hi the engine light and flashing coil light have appeared on the dash a friend plugged his snap on diagnostic tool in and got this code 5d5e00h/611892 any help is appreciated

150/180/204? The 150 has had sensor recalls, have you got a 150?

There should be a label attached insude the front cover of your service book.

It sounds like a dpf seneor fault so get it booked into your dealer under warranty.

Yes you have a 150(110 kw) they are subject to some recalls right now so contact Your dealer.

Done 4500 miles and not really had any issues other than those it was delivered with so when its at VW next week will ask the question but hopefully mines not affected.

hi all

Driving back from the north last night and the engine coil light started flashing. I pulled over at a services nothing seemed wrong, and when I turned the engine off it said Start / Stop fail. I kept leaving the engine off, and did a restart 3 times which cleared the fault but then the engine light came on and stayed on. Followed about 30 mins drive later by the coil flashing.

I think it’s a return to VW as the van is under 3 years. Problem is looking online it looks like they need to log in to the ECU and my van had a bump up to 174bhp before I purchased it from the converter.

Do I need to get this removed first??

It’s a tricky one, depending on who/how it was mapped then reverting it may or may not hide the fact it was done
VWs warranty claim will probably depend on what the fault is, if the fault is down to something that they think could have been affected by the remap then they could reject the warranty claim and say it’s chargable
Might be worth a call to your mappers and see if they can revert it and reset the flash counter leaving no trace it’s been changed or you could try plugging the van in with VCDS or Carista and see what the fault code is first before going to dealer so you have an idea of where you are at, if it’s an adblue/ace issue then a remap couldn’t really affect it but be aware the moment VW plug your van in it will log the fact that it’s been remapped and upload it to the mothership and that flag will stay with the vehicle forever and cannot be removed

Hmmm.. I was expecting that may be the answer, what I may do is take it to my local vw specialist and see how much they would charge to plug it in and take a look for me. I’ve already had to avoid the software updates when taking it for a a service. Kind of wish it was just stock rather than remapped, but was already done when I went to view the van!

I’ve always been a bit suspect about how good it has been done anyway as I get a real judder when accelerating sometimes.

Thanks for the answer though glad I checked rather than heading straight to Vw!

Just out of interest is it easy to plug in VCDS or is it quite specialist? Guess a search on this forum may tell me the answer to that!

That’s great, I’ll take a look, the light has decided to disappear now but will still get it looked at for peace of mind

Seems I’m quite a way from anybody on the map!

I've booked in at my local VW specialist who is going to plug in and tell me what the deal is, it will cost a small amount but cheaper than clearing the remap and then putting it back after just to visit VW. Although I have to be honest I am not entirely sure what I am gaining from the remap and have considered wiping it anyway!

Ok, so I got the van plugged in and it came up as a exhaust sensor that was faulty. Sensor 4 to be more specific, so now I have to work out if it’s worth taking to VW, paying £150 to get it done at the specialist, or trying to work out if it’s something I can do myself.

The vw specialists didn’t seem to think that taking it to vw remapped would flag anything up as it didn’t show on their system. But it still concerns me.
