Hi, so what can I do? I added some dpf cleaner before setting off back from Devon. Is there anything else I can do or is it a new DPF?

Will get another reading, that would explain why the soot is building so quickly.

Thanks 🙏

Hi, anything that can be done? Literally only just bought it, I thought as I had had a same era caddy with same engine I would be good, however maybe not? Aaargh...

If you only just bought it you may be able to take it back and tell 'em to fix it? Or reject it. Not for a private sale obviously.

Get readings
1) Cold engine idling
2) Hot engine idling

Obviously someone has tinkered with the DPF as the Ash accumulation has been reset fairly recently (about 6000 miles ago).

Normal reading at 100.000 miles would be about 55-60 grams.
It had a DPF clean when the ignition coils were replaced in late 2024 early 2025 i think. Not with the receipt folder atm so can't give dates.

Will get readings, do you mean RPM readings? (Thank you for your help so far) :)

timber cold
Quite high pressure across the cold DPF. For a healthy one should be well below 10 hPa.

hot idling
the same also for hot DPF - too much resistance in the DPF

For comparison please check below (Note: hPa=mbar)

I see there is quite a difference and running hot, mine was revving high at nearly 1000.Do in need a DPF clean don’t think or a diagnostic run? Weird thing is, no light. Also, it regens at 24g which seems low. What would your recomendation be. Hopefully it’s not burning oil and getting the probs so many of these seem to have had.

Based on your screenshot the engine was doing it's regen - red DPF + timer.

As the pressure depends on air flow, higher revs make the numbers look worse.

The DPF has obviously reached the point where no amount of regenning can clear it.
Of course the root cause of clogging has to be investigated.

What light? I think the ECU still thinks is within tolerances. Eventually, e.g. the regen never finishes, it will throw a fault.

Normal for the software

Anyways, there is an update for the software. Details below. The update won't resolve the DPF issue.

Not with the receipt folder
Any indication of remapping, or EGR delete? Any documents/measurements of the DPF clean?

Hi all. No docs with the DPF clean other than receipt for glow plug replacement and DPF clean, that I can see, no remapping as far as I can see, I can ask the previous owner. It’s come with all service documentation and by all accounts has been well really well looked after.

Just wondering where would be the best place/ company to get it cleaned in Warwickshire? I just hope it’s not oil causing the clog. All of these failures of this engine are a tad scary.

What a mare.

Thanks all for your help so far, what a lovely forum.

Oh, I can’t see the details about the update, where are those? how do I go about getting it updated? Thanks
