We've recently been to look around the range Don Amott have, they're all Camper King conversions and can be built however you like. We were looking at the T6 conversions but they have T5s as well. Haven't bought anything yet but have our eyes set on this fabulous blue trendline conversion. The staff were very helpful and didn't pressure us into buying anything then and there. Highly recommend. Pictures taken from their website as mine don't do it justice.

Our friends have a T5 based Camper King conversion which they love. The van you are looking at is based on a T28 which will be fine for most but, depending how many of you there are and how much gear you like to carry (bikes, trailers, etc..), you might be better looking for something based on a T30 (or even a T32). Some on here would also argue that, only being a 102 engine, it will be underpowered but there are plenty of convertors using this engine - you would always have the option to get it remapped later to provide a bit more power if required.

If you want someone in the same area (Derby) to compare to then I suggest you have a look at Hillside Leisure - as well as plenty of brand new vans, they normally have some new conversions on second hand van on the forecourt to look at.

Happy hunting!!

We’ve just paid a deposit for a T6.1 Camper King from Don Amott, collecting it in the New Year. The sales staff were really good and no hard sells on anything.

We purchased a Camper King conversion from Don Ammot in June 2020. It was a second hand van (second camper owner), that they had sold new and then traded back in. The sales support through lock down 1 was excellent and we picked the van up on the first day they opened after that lockdown. The support was excellent.

The Van was as expected, we had been researching for about 18 months on what we wanted and this had pretty much everything done that we needed.

Don Ammot then gave us a great discount on a drive away poled awning and when we had an issue with it on the first outing (not thier fault but a manufacturing issue) they exchanged it for an air version for the same price (we ended up wth a £650 awning for under £300. We had just bought the camper from them but still a massive discount.

Later in the year we noticed some issues with the vehicle battery (one thing we didn't research) and discovered we had a faulty Moll, unfortunately we were out of VW warranty, but Don Ammot warrant all their sales so gave them a call. Frustratingly their servicing department were closed during the current lockdown so we nursed the battery until this weekend when it properly died so had to replace ourselves. Don Ammot called me this morning and refunded the cost of the battery and fitting immediately. (On the basis they should have picked this up on PDI in June when the van was still under VW warranty).

This is why we bought from a dealer. It's the same reason our last 8 cars came from the same car dealership. When you find a good one and spend your money with them they look after you.

No brand of product has zero failures. It's how they fix them and look after you that counts and Don Ammot have been impecable. We would highly reccomend them (and Camper King) to anyone looking for a Campervan or Motorhome.

Shame VW can’t follow this sort of customer service. Superb indeed.

I did phone our local VW for the price to fit a battery and it was lead time + mortgage. Had the AA out to get me going (who was in a 2017 T6) and his most common call out to transporters. He reccomended the Yuasa (or the Halfords which is the same battery but without the brand cost) 5 year warranty and fitted a Halfords an hour later. He definately didn't reccomend not using the AA to fit as it would be double the cost..... cough cough. I do tend to avoid halfords but they were also excellent, especiflaly as we had to get it done that day as needed the van today for some stuff that could not be moved.
