@Dellmassive`s T6 T32 Sportline 204 LWB DSG PV MY18 - Van Adventure

Ain't that the truth. Final quote is in at 8k plus VAT. Fly wheel, Gearbox and offside driveshaft. o_O

Just getting a quote of a VW approved garage at the moment rather than main dealer. They are coming in at 7k so a grand cheaper, but I'm already into VW for removing the gear box and their diagnostic charge so by the time I've trailered the van to the other garage I don't think I'd be any better off.
And is that for a brand new shiny DSG.... ?

Where as an Indy may be able to rebuild your box....? And fit a new dmf and drive shaft.

Also if you are paying VW for the parts you can ask for the old DSG back... Then that can be reconed, so worth some residual value.

I've just had a new DSG and DMF in the Bus, it was £8k. due to it leaking oil. (Not the drive shaft issue) ( Supplied and fitted by VW) ( 100% covered by All-in)

But it was out of stock for months !!!! I hope they have sorted there supply chain.

Indy quote is for a brand new box. VW are saying box is OS for a couple of weeks.

Jeez... I hope they have given you a courtesy van... A nice new T6.1 maybe?

Well that didnt work out as i expected. . . . . .

booked van into VW for:

All-In, MOT is Due, (apparently I've used my allowance so this one is chargable?)

ALL-In service for new engine - 6K miles first oil change (i had a service still due under ALL-IN)

80K miles DSG service, (this is chargeable)

++++++

So Ballz - the rear spring has snapped and falled out,

Plus rear tyre showing the cords. . .

both these now mean

A - No MOT Pass,

B - Cant drive the van

+++++++++

double ballz

luckily i have a full set of suspension in the garage and a full set of tyres - two with goo tread.

++++

this is what the springs looked like,

they are OEM Sportline ERBAK Sportline T32 (-40mm drop from standard apparently?)

1744133922741.png

looks rusty - so it must have happened a while ago.

1744133987139.png

+++++

the spare set of susspension i have is from a standard T32 ( not lowered)

that gives us this A=TEAM style jacked up at the back with a rack - sloping down to the front.

1744134102159.png

...

oh yeh, and the wheel.

the two spares with good tread i had were from the Black sportlines i had.

so VW swapped the wheels for me,

and swapped the rear springs for me.

all so that we could complete the service works - and get the MOT passed.

happy days.

so what did it cost?

well VW had quoted me £312 for the DSG sevice,

and £45 for the MOT that was out of ALL-IN.

and £0 for the small serice - covered by all in.

then they said an hours and a bit for swapping the rear springs, and tryres - about £190.

+++++

the service got signed off all ok.

next up was the paid for stuff. . .

1744134675532.png

++++++++++

Amazballs. - £352.40

they have billed me for ther MOT & DSG, and thats it.

the didnt charge me for the wheels swap,

the didnt charge me for the spring swap.

they didnt charge ne for the 25 plate T6.1 loan van i had all day.

top job and service from VW Chelmsford. - well done guys.

now as for the brocken spring, and leaking adblue injector, well thats got to be covered under the ALL-IN package.

so Amy and the team at VW Chelmsford are getting a reort sent over to VW for warrenty job for the springs and injector.

im waiting to hear back from them within the week.

all being well, ill get a new T32 rear spring/s back into stock,

and get the van booked in for the adblue injector - bearing in mind that we just had a new engine fitted 5k miles ago.

Credit where credits due......

We all have bad experiences with some dealers but some DO provide a good service......(my new to me approved used T-Cross needs new pads after just 6k miles)

After almost 7 years it's time to fit a new battery to the van.

It just goes to show that if you look after them they will last.

Anyway, decided to bump up the size to a AGM-115.

Went for the Halfords own brand (which is a Yuasa) - 5yr guaranty.

£209 down to £141 with the trade card.

That ll do.... I'll get the vcds out and swap over when I get a chance.

I didn't know that was the OEM brand, I've always avoided the house brand given the quality of some other items.

As a single battery van I do keep tinkering with the idea of changing the starter to the largest I can fit.

This is a great thread for the starter battery upgrade.....

Halfords own brand made by Yuasa.

When you compare the battery spec and warranty, it's the same as the Yuasa. But a bit cheaper being white label ...... Find someone with a trade card and it's even cheaper.

"Halfords AGM batteries are primarily manufactured by Yuasa. While Halfords also sells their own branded batteries, these are believed to be made by Yuasa as well. Yuasa is a leading global manufacturer of lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, known for their quality and performance. "

I've also experienced an engine failure with a T6 204 Bi Turbo. Ended up having to have a complete rebuild at ca. £15k - not amused! Especially when its all down to a VW emissions control design fault (cock-up).
Having had all this done I now find the warning light still comes on and I need a new Nix sensor. The VW is around £800!!! which I'm reluctant to spend. Has anyone had good experience with an aftermarket version? The price range I've seen goes from around £150 to £800. I've also read that the aftermarket ones are problematic .

Does anyone have any recommendations?

The van is books back in with a main dealer next week to look at this AdBlue and spring problem...

But I've just noticed yesterday and again this morning there seems to be some kind of exhaust leak from the engine bay area.

I can't smell it, but I can hear it.

It's a low down grumble exhaust noise, the kind of sound you would expect to be coming from after the back boxes.

I've heard similar on a previous van where the mid box become disconnected....

But this sound is coming from the engine bay area.

The van is a bit low to get right underneath at the minute to look with my own eyes, has the exhaust and turbo is at the rear of the engine.

So I need to wait for a high curb.

But I will mention it to the dealership when the van gets booked in.

It's worth pointing out that there is no change in power etc, or any dashboard lights.

So it's not a intercooler hose popped off or anything like that...

I'll see if I can get a video clip of the sound.

vans gone back in for the leaking adblue injector.

apparently the springs are not covered? - cant see how thats right as they are not a consumable item?

not bothered anyway as i have a set of standard T32 springs on the rear which is much comfyer than the lowered Sportline ones (-40mm drop)

as we are now out of ALL_IN warranty as we are 6yrs old now.

this could be the last time this van goes back home to VW.

after this it will be Home garage or local Indy - most likely.

the vans booked in with them for 3days to get the adblue injector replaced.
