Dash lights and missing switch

2 things, firstly, when I turn on the side lights, the instrument needles and switch gear illuminate but the dial numerals don't. Only when headlights are switched on do the dials light up. Guessing it might be VWs way of alerting you that your headlights aren't on when it gets dull. Can this be coded out?

Secondly, I've got a euro6 DSG shuttle. It has a stabilility control light on the dash (car with wiggly lines). I understand this relates to traction control, stability control and electronic diff lock. However I have no switch to turn it off. Manual says it should be in centre console. Anyone any knowledge of why this should be or is it just not fitted across the board?

Hey mate did you get the answer to the dash on sidelight option as mine does this and really bugs me

Not sure about coding the dash lighting. . . . . haven't noticed an option for that. (its designed that way so you dont end up driving about with just DRL or side lights on,... so you take note and switch your lights on properly)

have you thought about going the Auto-light route?

But a VW Tech told me (this year) that only 4Motion has the disable buttons/diff lock

he said you cant disable or reduce the TCS/stability at all, something to do with safety with the new city braking setup lol...

(apparently if you disabled it, it would disable the front city braking too, and that was seen as too much of a risk by the VW legal department)

A asked about it as our T5.1gp HAD the button . . . . . . BUT it was DSG/4M . . . . so i just accepted what he said.

so for a T6 with out 4M - No you cant.

Yeah thought It was Vw being safe!
Had a mate set the extra wiper sweep option and anti hijack they are really useful but he couldn’t find anything for dash

VCDS? Carista? VCP?

what was the anti-hijack? (auto locking?)

Vcsd.
Yeah auto locks at 15mph then unlocks as soon as you take the keys out or in a accident apparently!
Makes me feel saver with tools in van

For late T6s: Lighting issues

Up here traction control button is now (MY19) a new factory option available for FWD T6. Not too expensive - 30 euros

For the older ones possibly a becoming mod Traction Control
