Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

I'm new to T6's but owned a T5 and T25's.
What mileage do you change the cambelt and water pump on a VW 2.0 TDI 102PS Bluemotion T6?
I'm considering purchasing one with 85K on the clock.

Thanks, so much later than the T5's as these were around 100,000 miles.
May I ask, have you chipped or remapped your T6?

Does it not state first cam belt change at 120,000 KMS on that PDF which is about now on an 85,000 mile vehicle. Or am I reading it wrong?

The belts should be reasonably well hidden away behind covers etc. I still don't see the logic behind that. What if you live in the UK and by the sea?
Your bodywork falls apart from salt corrosion, and you’re left with a nice rubber belt. That is of course if the Seagull pap doesn’t beat the salt to the punch. ;)

Is that for a certain engine buddy, my vag specialist has told me my 150 model states 4 years or up to 150k ,I have over 90k on mine at the moment and my last service they did give belt a check and all looked gd but it's definitely on cards for next service ,I have used my mechanic for a will so do trust his work but am over the threshold if that's for all model's o_O

Not 100% sure as that was the general guideline from the VW website, and the excert from the OEM repair book. (Which indicated a 2.0l derv engine)

So a visual inspection would indicate the state of the belt.

Heat cycles and age can wear the belt just like wear&tear can.

In my opinion you can’t do a proper inspection without removing the belt at which time you might as well fit a new one.

I have just had one done on a golf which cost almost £500 with a new water pump, it’s not cheap but as it will fail at some point it’s got to be done (the golf went 5 years but VW say 4 years)

My engine is the 140, and I was told when I picked it up from its 80K service yesterday, it was due a cam belt change next March, when it's four years old. Hmmmm. Clear as mud.
