I've been mulling getting a new headunit to replace my startline spec one for a while, and considered a Kenwood/Panasonic option for a while.

Decided to give these a go after seeing reasonable prices and good reviews.

I have to say I'm very impressed. Their pre-purchase advice was good and responsive, and they took time to answer all my questions. I ended up going for the 6gb version with vehicle loom and external mic which came to a total of £250. For that it comes with a free reversing camera.

The unit was very easy to fit. Everything worked straight away with no issues. It is very responsive with no lag. Wireless android auto has worked every time and connects quickly. The unit has great functionality; it has kept my rear parking sensor function, it shows door open warnings, it can display vehicle data such as battery voltage, fuel tank status, speed etc.

It has turned out to be much bettet than what I expected for the price, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Yes I can get you a video. I'll show the vehicle data on the video.

Yes it has wireless carplay and android auto. I've seen a few of these android based headunits for sale and always been sceptical - but a lot of the others don't have wireless options or keep original parking sensors etc.

Forgot to mention it also retains the OEM usb on the dash.

Couple of questions, is it a true android 13 or fake?? You can download load fake device test on the play store to find out.

Also, if you are using android auto for navigation, will it allow you to listen to the inbuilt radio tuner?

Could you make a video showing some general usage? What do you mean by shows battery status and fuel tank?

Does it have wireless Carplay ?

I have a video now. I can't work out how to upload it here, but if you pm me your mobile number I'd be happy to send it over

I've just tried this and yes you can listen to inbuilt radio and use maps on android auto at the same time.
The system info on settings shows android 13 and 6gb of ram (not sure if this can be faked?) But I can try the fake device test as well.

I can relate to being stuck with the poverty spec radio and mulling over an upgrade. The next one up from the tiny screen that I have is at least £300 second hand and that just feels absurdly expensive. Again, I can also relate to the skeptical view about android tablet cheap alternatives. It sounds like you may have taken the plunge for all of us tentative timmys.

Stick your video on youtube and post it here please. I'd be very interested to see how it performs etc.

Also, thanks very much for stepping up with an honest review. Much appreciated.

I was a tentative timmy for a long time! Looked at a few of them over the past few months and there was always something that put me off (unable to keep reversing sensors, android auto not wireless etc). This was the only that has all the features I wanted.

Even so, I was skeptical even after ordering. But I'm really pleased that I did. So far I can't fault it. The only bit I'm not keen on is that the reversing camera that comes with it looks a bit clunky so I've ordered a £30 one off Amazon that looks a bit more OEM, but the camera comes included so can't complain too much!

I'll try to sort out the video.

Just tried this head unit... screen is so dull...made are great speakers sound tinny. Had to take the front off too take a pic of wiring for seller and the inside was boiling hot we could hardly hold the thing, Now won't give refund had 2 weeks.?.avoid!!!

Thanks for that. I have an android unit in my astra which allows the radio to play when navigating. The one in the transporter will allow the the radio to play up to the point Google maps speaks then it stops working. So good to know it works.

And yes, the Chinese do fake the android numbers. Both my units are android 13, or at least that's what they say! Running the fake device app reveals a single digit version of android.

So I've been on the fence for a while now about what I wanted to do as my OEM screen is failing. Have has some quotes to upgrade to a Kenwood system etc. I've been very close to paying the money and getting it done but always held of as all I really want is a standard wireless Android auto system and £800+ was just a bit of a stinger for that. I know I could have gone middle of the road cheaper but if I was going to pay someone might as well go the whole way.

Read this and loved the OEM type look thanks @tomosllyr for posting. Decided to buy and risk it at this price.

Here is my honest review.

Reached out to Android Car Stereos a couple of times but didn't get a response. After 3 days I did get a reply and from that point I couldn't be more happy. Answered all my questions. Gave advice without pushing a sale and after ordering checked my details to make sure everything was right and dispatched same day tracked. I ordered Friday and the unit arrived today (Monday). Followed up with more images and advice today.

Plain packaging but packaged well.

Limited install instructions but enough to give you what you need. I've never installed anything like this before but it was pretty much plug and play. The only real work was routing the cables but that's not on them.

My 3rd party reverse camera didn't work out the box (they adviced it might not over email) so I've switched out for the one the included. This is an upgrade for me as it has the reversing lines that move with the wheel.

OEM parking sensors work out the box. Door open alerts work out the box.

I added the DAB aerial and that works perfectly. I've connected to my van WiFi and maps work great outside of android auto if you want to go that route. The radio plays when using nav. The naughty stuff like YouTube, Netflix work should you be that way incline. All the multi function controls on the steering wheel work. Android auto connects within seconds. Not tried apple play.

I added the external mic but not tried a call. Personally I don't talk on the phone too often while driving so nothing major either way for me.

For £200 I couldn't be happier with the install, look and performance.

Thanks both for the information on this, do you know if this has a HDMI output option (cant see anything about it on the website, and cant download a manual anywhere to read up on it) ideally looking for an android unit that can output to a 2nd screen whilst looking at something else on the main screen.

i was toying over the DUDU7, but im not keen on the unit sticking out beyond the dash, this option loops pretty slick

Do you have a link for this specific unit pls? That's almost my budget so I'd be tempted to take the plunge come payday.

I honestly have had no issue with the screen brightness or sound quality. Not to sound like a dick, but presumably you did change the screen brightness settings? I haven't been able to detect any change in the sound over the OEM. If anything, it has a bit more depth.
The heat would worry me though. After a drive yesterday I took the trim off to feel around it and it felt fine. Next time I'll take the unit out to feel behind it.
Out of interest, which version did you go for?

Glad my review could help!
Based on yours, maybe I shouldn't be so hard on the camera and just give it a go!
Like you, this does exactly what I need it to (and more) for a fraction of the cost of what I was planning to spend on a new headunit.

I can't remember seeing one, but next time I take it off I will double check.

No HDMI output. What's your use case for this? Want to connect up a TV screen?

The reversing camera is a little less OEM than the one I had before just because of the bracket it's on but it's a great picture and the lines seems to be pretty on point out the box. I'm sure there is some extra refining you could do within the unit. Running the cables (even with one already run) was the hardest part. I've also taken live from the rear light so needed a relay.

9inch Android Head Unit for Volkswagen, SEAT, Skoda | Wireless CarPlay that's the one I brought with the DAB antenna and the MOB adapter.

Not had any issues @evansa has mentioned. Screen brightness is great even at 50%. Sounds is very much as was tbh and not detected any heat issues as such but I've only been for a 20 min drive. I'll check closer on a longer drive.

You can actually use the original dab aerial. That way you wouldn't need to stick the aerial on the screen. You just need to buy one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Camecho-Di...234&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_32_oos_cp_t and an adapter lead https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bingfu-Nav...1f8&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_32_oos_pr_t

Kind of, I have the digital dash and being able to bung the nav over to the dash screen whilst being able to leave the head unit for music/entertaining the child would be an advantage. It's not a shoe stopper given the price point.

I'm wondering if we need to request the forum elders to approach this company and figure out a forum discount before we all flock to purchase... at least a referral scheme might be beneficial
