Android auto not working (i think)

Hi.

2016 t6 t32 4 motion here. How do i get android/ apple carp play to work? I put the cable in the usb on the dash at the passenger side, click on app connect, nothing. It asks me to select a divice, when i go on that it says something like android auto or mirror link. It is possible the cable is crap but before i but a new one i want to check im not missing something, i need Waze up and running asaap !

What phone?

What cable? Is a power + data cable?

The factory satnav doesn't come with car play as standard...

Just as a side note, I've fitted a Carplay/AA unit in my 5 series. My phone won't connect if Nord VPN is active.

Usually just a cable problem. Good quality, must be a data cable.
