Android Car Stereos UK

This is odd. I have just turned mine on for the first time since I got it a few months ago and it seems to work as expected. TA just turns blue (doesn't autotune as above) am assuming when a local traffic report occurs it will overplay whatever chammel I'm on. When I press magnifying glass ot does my autotune.

I probably wont use it though. It's not a very nice display. DAB isnt much better but I normally screen off or have android auto on with DAB radio behind.
I think I got it wrong about the TA button, it’s probably traffic alert as mentioned above

My only issue with mine is that in a long list that I need to scroll through by swiping, it quite often activates an option I'm trying to swipe past.

Android car stereo uk says this may be the screen protector...

Apart from that, it's great value for money

Resurecting old thread as i'm thinking about pressing the button to buy one of these. Any current owners please shout if you now think that's a bad idea?!

thnaks for the replys @jimc91

On the bluetooth v wifi issue, does this only occur when you need a wifi connection for the internet or other apps, rather than for Android Auto? I assume the phone connects autmatically for AA through wifi and you don't have to turn off bluetooth each and every time?

Still happy with mine. I use android auto every day and it connects automatically.

Has been great value for money as far as I'm concerned.

It's way smarter to look at than the old standard unit I had. Android auto works fine.

I've only really used the wifi a few times to download carista, renogy and Fogstar apps.

Occasionally it doesn't connect but it's likely cause my phone is 5yr old and a bit glitchy.

It's good value in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm gonna press the button on this and order. How hard is it to route the external mic? Has anyone stuck with the stock VW mic and made it work?

That's interesting; after downloading the apps do they work with bluetooth?

None of the apps I would want to use are compatible with android auto unfortunately.

Dunno what apps you would want to use.

It's got apple car play but why would you? Hehe

I was just thinking about ablemail, victron apps etc so that I could monitor the leisure system off it. They're not android auto compatible so I can't use them currently.

I didn't bother with mic, just plugged it all in and it worked fine with VW mic which was a bonus.

The unit has arrived, long with the parts that @Dundee_Kev has suggested. Does anyone have any installation videos? I'm really confused on the Amazon DAB receiver for example. I thought I could just connect to the existing DAB antenna?

Anyone know how I connect the dab receiver to the van's dab aerial? I got the connectors recommended on this thread but can't seem to work it out.
What DAB receiver have you got. My understanding of them was that they had their own aerial as an input, then either connected to the head unit via usb, or transmitted either a bluetooth or FM signal that the headunit could tune into.
