Alloys vs Refurbish Steels

Greetings!

My T32 currently has 17" steel wheels that are structurally sound but have seen better days. I'm currently debating whether to look for second hand Devonports or to have the steel wheels refurbished.

Reasons for/against are:

AlloysRefurbish Steels
For
  • Simply put, they look fantastic and I love seeing the brakes through them.
  • Lighter than steels, although not sure I'd notice
  • Potentially cheaper option
  • Paint colour options (liking the idea of blue)
  • Pretty damn sturdy
Against
  • Potentially more expensive option
  • Involves waiting to find a good compatible set to become available
  • Kerbing (not only me who drives the van)
  • Ensuring they're load rated for T32
  • Might change the handling?
  • Possible insurance change?
  • Doesn't look as (literally) polished as alloys
  • Have to find somewhere that can actually do it

Another thing to consider is that I need to replace two of the tyres soon which aren't cheap, so it might work out cheaper to buy a set of Devonports that come with tyres with more life on them, but that still assumes that a set becomes available with both the wheels and tyres load rated for a T32.

What are your thoughts?

Devonports with good tyres are cheaper than just buying tyres.
Steel will eventually rust again no matter what protective measures / coatings used, tyre fitters generally don‘t give a flying f***, time is money.

I am sort of in the same place inc need a pair of tyres. Skint at the moment so thinking refurb/powder coat my old Caravelle alloys or steel wheels with the tyres I want?
