90 hp remap

A local company tells me they can remap a 2021 90hp Startline to 175, torque from 220 to 360. They say it won’t effect gears, brakes, exhaust or EGR. It sounds like a big increase to me but is it safe? The van has 21,000 miles and a full camper conversion. The 90hp makes it useless as a daily driver!

IMO if you don’t already own it buy the van you need.
If you do already own it consider selling to buy the van you need.
Have a Search on ‘remap’ and you’ll find there are some issues with the 5 speed gearbox and turbocharger.
As for them saying it won’t affect the gears, brakes, exhaust or EGR, it sounds like you already spotted the BS.

Mmmh getting the ideal van at an ideal price seems to be almost impossible! I think a 90hp with a gentle tuning may be the answer!

As far as I'm aware not one has unlocked the latest Transporter ECU yet from 2020 onwards. I think presently the only option is a tuning box.

On the earlier Euro 5 T6, and T5s one of my favourite remaps is the 2.0TDI 85PS - This is essentially a detuned 140ps engine but with the 5 speed gearbox - Maps had to limit the torque not here to protect the gearbox, but you would see around 90PS on these engine, which as you would imagine, completely transforms it - Maybe they are mistaking the later engine for this one.

Yep I didn’t register 2021, so if you remap and have a power train warranty claim there MAY be issues.

Makes me wonder what the hell the first tuning guys I spoke to where on about!
They probably have biomechanical dysmorphia (i.e. they don't know their arse from their elbow).

I can’t understand how a 2021 van has still got this low bhp I know they were in the earliar transporters but blimey surely that’s low in this day and age to be dragging a big old van around

It's all about emissions, VW are trying to recover some lost ground.

As Dave said, it's to do with bringing down the average emissions of vehicles in the range.

The price will dictate a market for them as there will be trade users that just want a van for 'the boys to use', so poverty spec and limited power will suffice.
