I assume that by specifying the T6.1, you are asking if the rear "dash" camera can be displayed on the media screen? Is there a rear view dash cam that can be also used as a reversing camera in a T6.1?
Sort of I want a reversing camera to show on the screen but also a dash cam to record anything going on at the back whilst drivingI assume that by specifying the T6.1, you are asking if the rear "dash" camera can be displayed on the media screen?
I have the same dash cam connected to the obd with no problems. 2024 T6.1Have an issue with a Nextbase iQ dash cam. It kind of needs to be wired in using the oBD2 port adapter to access the low battery switch off function. Problem is when I plugged it in head unit goes blank and engine is crank no start. Nextbase suggested contacting a stealership. Wired up the better half’s Nextbase 422 the day before using the oBD2 adapter in her new Kia sportage and it all worked fine no issues and very stra. Any ideas anyone? Is this a case of coding in the oBD2 adapter? I have the thing hardwired to a permanent live with a piggyback fuse and is working fine just no low battery functionality.
VW Tech guy seemed to think it needs coding in to the canbus and they didn’t have that facility there but the main office repair part a few miles away would be able to check it out for me. I was hoping it would be plug and play as it was on the one I did the day before. Take care.I have the same dash cam connected to the obd with no problems. 2024 T6.1
Most Dashcams can be powered by a usb cable, if you look at the input spec they're usually 5v 2a (10watts) so you should be able to use a most of the dashcam unless it says specifically 12v (i've had lots of dashcams and i was able to test them with a powerbank/usb socket at home before id installed it)My Crafter has a usb-c port, permanent live, next to where you'd mount a dash cam...
Is there such a dash cam available as it wasn't obvious when I Googled it.
NextBase batteries can be replaced. It’s a bit fiddly but less than a tenner!I have a nextbase 402g in my work van. Thought ot was great at first, but after 6 months i noticed that when i turned off the ignition it just kept turning on and off. Turned out the internal battery had failed. This also ment thet the last recording corrupted.
It was replaced by halfords but again after 6 months the new one is doing the same..
yeh the cheaper cameras designed for stupid people as a plug and play device will be cigarette socket or usb powered.Never seen a dashcam powered off USBc. Always seems to be hardwire off piggy back fuse or 12v. Newest ones appear to be moving to OBD connector but can't work out if that would work or not! Worst case have to hardwire if I can find fuses or pay someone £120![]()
Shouldnt be connected to the power on the OBD, dont think its usually fused very high, although the dashcam shouldnt use more then 1amp anyway. but not the best idea. For a proper installation it should be hard wired either to the back of the fuse box using an unused slot or a piggy back fuse connector.Evening. What are people's thoughts on best dashcam currently available. Are people still having issues with the Nextbase IQ connected directly to OBD port. I've done some digging and will not readily be able to access my fuses but can readily feel and almost see OBD port below steering wheel. It's a long shot but anyone ideas whether a Nextbase IQ would work connected to OBD port on electric van. Tourneo Custom? Did you ever get sorted @Bertrum ?
