Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

My elder brother took early retirement at 61, we have watched him go downhill health wise since then, his funeral is next Monday. As much as I hate hitting the road on 2 wheels to avoid Birmingum traffic 5 days a week, I will carry on until I'm 67. He turned 66 late December and didn't get to see his first state pension payment. Life's a bitch etc... My mother, on the other hand, is 96 this year, beaten cancer 3 times, never worked a day in her life! Go figure!
Wayne that is so sad. i lost my wife shortly after we both retired but retirement has been kind to me with camping, central to my enjoyment.

i have done crazy things that i would not have imagined i would do in working life including yoga retreats, painting and poetry and on Saturday I am going to the Newark Star Wars convention :) just for the hell of it.

May the force be with you on Monday

I live not far from Newark - not seen star wars convention advertised anywhere - will be some interesting sights! Is it at the space academy? 😂

I really dont think there is an exact formula:

first of all so sorry to hear @moomin-j -j of your brother passing, there doesnt seem to be rhyme nor reason. Our thoughts are with you and we wish you celebrate his life as it should be.

My approach is Never say Never.......................you'll retire when you feel its right and its not wrong to carry on, that may well be your savior.

Just enjoy the experiences and friends you can, whilst you can. Material things don't really mean that much, albeit we sometimes strive for them, but that's pretty normal.

Thinking of you for Monday. Ali

@Drive Wayne
I think the above positive thoughts are for you to soak up...

Chatsworth CAMC.

Two days of leave to use up before end of the the leave year, and a free night to boot!

They were due to close early March but they must have had an extension to the lease, as they are now booking to September.

There were two separate Calis that came in after us, both of them circled the site at least three times, there are loads of pitches free (being a weeknight) but they both couldn't decide :slow rofl:

Saw they had extended the calendar, we are looking to go to the Chatsworth site when it gets a bit warmer...

We drove down to Weston Super Mare yesterday give the van a run and have a wander down the beach. We had a very quick run along the 40 miles of M5 without dropping below 70 but as we got towards town found that the usual [signposted] route to the beach car park was blocked by what looked like a rebuilding of railway bridge which wouldn't have been so bad had it been advertised before we got to the thing but such is life. However, after we followed the first and second (well hidden) diversion signs, we found ourselves in the middle of a housing estate with no further clues on where to go so we turned around, went back to the main drag and went from there - we weren't the only ones either. Whoever's responsible for planning such things simply ain't doing their jobs properly and should be shown the door.
After all that, we parked up on the wet sand and set off for a walk. Whan we left, the van was on its own but by the time we returned, we had been joined by T5.1 camper who was obviously seeking safety in numbers. He turned out to be a nice bloke who hadn't had his van for long and was keen to chat on anything about campers.
