Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Nothing too exciting today, just took the van out for a bit of a drive to clear my head. Popped out for a quick coffee and somehow turned it into a longer run than planned (as usual 😄).

Pulled over for a bit, had a sit and just enjoyed the quiet before heading back. Funny how even a short trip feels like a mini getaway in the van.

Expect a knock on your door.

Five minutes in the showers here at Leadstone Park, Dawlish Warren costs 20p currently, they're mixed showers so I got to buddy up with two Swedish girls backpacking and saved 14p, absolute bargain.
Anyway following our arrival yesterday under leaden skies and getting a bit of a fright walking beside the Dawlish Spit sand cliffs

Campervan and motorhome stop on the side of Loch Lomond, on the north ward trip to Outer Hebrides.
Hope your ferries are all running to schedule? Seems Calmac are having a bit of a meltdown.
Bit concerned about our planned trip to Mull next month - not to mention the diesel we'll use will probably cost more than our booked flights to Singapore (via Dubai ffs) in July  All the best laid plans......

We had a few nightmares…. They cancelled my Skye ferry a week ago and then 2 days ago cancelled my Outer Hebrides one. Managed to get hold of them on twitter and a few hours had rebooked on a rescheduled one. So all go at moment, Storm Dave won’t be fun but got to make the best of it.

Got my camper 3 weeks ago,was planning St Andrews today for 3 nights but was fully booked from last week even with Storm Dave on the horizon. Generally do you have to book weeks in advance for popular site,,camper newbies so probably have a lot to learn

Watch the weather plus time of year and book a month in advance at least.
Obviously it's pot luck in reality with the weather but things like school holidays can be avoided to save money.
With this current trip we've booked here in Dawlish Warren we couldn't add any dates on our pitch because of the Easter break so added three nights before up at Bath.
The Dawlish site only opened Wednesday with three of us vans, seventeen more yesterday, mainly in the evening and forty odd more arriving today/night.
Looks like the showers will be packed...

@VMS It all depends on your circumstances working taking kids with you probably need to book well in advance school holidays get busy. Working going away without kids still need to book in advance as you will be booking holiday at work and dont want the disappointment of no availability at the site of choice but the advantage you dont have to go in school holiday time unless your a teacher trouble with advance bookings is you never know what the weathers going to do Thirdly both packed up work like us just go away when the weathers nice the trouble with booking the nice weather it can be hard to get a full week as lots of families book a Friday to Sunday break.
Also depends on what sort of site you want ones with clubhouse and/or swimming pool get booked well in advance
Good luck with your first trip

Gotta envy the retired folk! Phase 1 complete though, baby daughter off to a local Uni in September, Glasgow, just a 5 hour drive from home...

Regarding St Andrews we stopped at Larick Camp site nearby in Tayport last year, parking a camper in St Andrews proved to be a bit of a mission.
Literally the only picture I've got from St Andrews...

@Drive Wayne you'll get to retire again soon enough mate, regarding your long haired generals assistant, my youngest lad, the boy genius, works for historic Scotland at Stirling and has effectively immersed himself in Jockenesian society by marrying into a local clan and taking up residence in Cambuslang... sometimes they just go to school and never come back... 🤕
