Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

We went to the Bath snd West showground for the agricultural show. Aspire campers (the raffle ticket company) had this customer build camper on show. It has a full conversion inside including shower etc. it has a 2.4 ltr flat four air cooled engine so that it still sounds genuine. I was told they built it for the director but don’t have room for it so it is being raffled this week with the winner being announced on Monday.
I asked if it would do 70, he said yes and it gets there reasonably quickly - but it catches the crosswinds.

On our way north for a couple of weeks in Midgyland with a few days in Edinburgh first, staying at Moretonhall Campsite, very well organised with immaculate facilities with weather to match atm, and completely full too! .Robbie at Murrayfield tomorrow evening. Excellent bus connections into the city from the campsite gate
After Edinburgh well check the weather and decide from there which direction to go! 😬 IMG_8715.jpegIMG_8731.jpeg

Love that colour! :)

Out and about today in heavy fog. It is amazing just how many people are driving in these conditions with the wrong lights or no lights at all. In the heavy fog where some vehicles with absolutely no lights at all, side lights only, Running lights only. Firstly it is a legal requirement it was real fog not that drizzly misty stuff. No light I would see criminal irresponsibility. Side lights hardly see them until up close amazingly pathetic. Running lights better than side lights but not that much better and some vehicles running lights are poor. The modern trend for automatic lighting systems is a big mistake it most certainly need improving or deleting because they do not recognise fog and people are getting very reliant and lazy, beside running lights do not normally have illuminated rear lights. Many vehicles had no rear lights because they had running lights on only. Flashing or beeping the worst offenders with no lights has absolute no affect they just continue zombie like its pointless. they are probably booking the plot in the cemetery.

So please guys I know all on here are better than that and are not totality reliant on auto lights in poor conditions. Stay Safe.

Interesting, we vowed never to go back there. Found it a bit uncared for and it was way to big and busy to the point our pitch was occupied. Which to be fair, you do need a microscope to read where your pitch is on the map. Also wanted £5 for the dog!! And that was per night. So glad we accidently forgot to say we had a dog.

Nice pub and food onsite though, and the buses at the entrance make it ideal location for Edinburgh.

Remember to give me and @The Flying Scotsman a wave if coming through Dundee

Heavy fog ? 😯 not seen any of that for years ...not over here anyway .
France last year was a different matter but still people driving oblivious to it all 😠
Wales, elevated topography. From a distance it looked as though the sky had slipped down the hill sides. Lower air pressures result lower saturation points and dew point, lower temperatures then result condensation mist then fog, all predictable. The very disappointing thing is after all these years of education and increasing vehicle technology has taken us back years in sensibility. People in general just appear to be able to think for them selves.

I remember many years ago no light where common people reluctantly using side lights even in appalling conditions. Then came dim dip a little better. Motorcyclists had been using headlamps for a number of years in increasing numbers, until it became the norm at all times day or night, though unfortunately some never seemed to know what dipped beam looked like or where the switch was. Considering how vain people, well men, are today, spending loads of dosh £££ on fancy lights, guys driving around with fog lights illuminated when their is no fog or legal acceptance, that at the very time when head lights are required or when fog lights can be used they all appear to be switched off.

An amusing aside. many years ago, driving in heavy stop, start, traffic in Cambridge a following car had its lights on full beam ever since it pulled in behind. I tried switching mine off briefly repeatedly to try and draw the drivers attention and putting my rear fogs on and off with no effect. So I left my vehicle and walked back to the following vehicle, the front window was already wound down and the ladies within the car in deep happy conversation. Putting on my biggest smile so as not to appear threatening, I asked could she possibly dip her lights because they where causing a problem for oncoming traffic and uncomfortable for vehicles ahead. The reply was a more than a little alarming " I do not know how to dip my head lights" She said. I asked would she mind terribly if I showed her a nod and yes please I reached in through the window and pressed the dip stick. "Thank you" reflected both ways and I retuned wondering if my smile hide the thoughts of incredulity. I did not know weather to laugh or cry, For F---s Sake W T F...:rolleyes::rolleyes:🧐🤪😏

Yeah it’s really not our kind of site because of its size etc…why is it the person with the loudest laugh and voice always parks next to us!!!!
We have been pleasantly surprised though seeing as it’s a ‘city’ campsite how good the facilities are.
We are on just a basic pitch with no ehu for £33 a night which is good value considering. We looked at Airbnb’s in the city but we are only euro5 which limits us and the prices were ridiculous for somewhere with reasonably secure parking.
We’re upgrading to a shepherds hut here tomorrow for a couple more nights….well it is my 60th this year!
We may have to wave from afar as I’m not sure we are going along the east coast, weather depending.
