Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

IMG_6080.jpegI don’t think the photo does it justice but after a weekend in the Peak District doing all the walks planned in the dry (I even got a little burnt on Friday up kinder scout) I took the awning down as it was dry and the wind was picking up then we went on one last 10k hike and it hammered it down, it gave the wife another chance to gloat about how good her £250+ coat is compared to my £20 pacamac! I was soaked through!

Went to Liverpool Sunday & Monday... amazing (except for you know what, sadly)

The traffic & weather was abysmal on Monday evening/night.. the M62 was rammed & quite a bit of the M6 too.
Average Speed cameras were a blo0dy nightmare!! people banging on brakes then a domino effect.. dark, windy & pouring down!
The fuel gauge went from around 37-38mpg down to around 30 on the M5 South... shocking the effect wind & rain has on making your van work harder...

Radio 1’s big weekend was in Liverpool at the weekend.
That’s why the traffic was a nightmare.
We got caught up in it at rush hour on Friday on our way to Bala.
Stopped dead several times on the fast lane on the motorway.
Ruined our journey down.

I had intended to watch some of the cup journey on TV but forgot so switched it on at the last moment about half to three quarters of an hour after that dreadful event. It took a little while to make sense of it at first as I had music from the Hi-Fi on and TV images, soon switched music off and could not believe what had just happened. I am usually stoic during adversity but I felt emotionally choked. I know the area very well but that was a life time ago, yet still I am sure was moved because of the links, memories and the deliberate sheer senseless brutal nature of it.

I do hope that you where away from the scene.

If you are going that way or returning it may be better to just go down or up across country so to speak and not use M Ways at all.

Hey bud..
Yeh we knew about the big weekend thing @ Sefton Park.. we were thinking of staying there from Sunday morning but thought otherwise… stayed in Kings Dock.
Turned out pretty good.
Fantastic time except for that issue.. we were about 100-200 yards from Kings Dock following the parade after it came through & about 40 police came running through ‘move.. get out of the way’ the lads thought it must’ve been fighting.. couldn’t really understand as the atmosphere was amazing.
We got turned away from Kings Dock & told to walk around! Cheers.. on the way back we found out what had happened via Twitter/X. Almost totally nullified the weekend.
Got back about 12.30a.m. Booked time of work thankfully :D

Hope you had a good time at Bala.

Thanks bud.
We were opposite James street right in the thick of things.. amazing, really was..
Water Street was the next street up where the incident happened. The incident happened about 5-10mins after we started following the parade.. crazy. Just can’t believe it happened, like most people just can’t comprehend it either.. glad nobody lost their life, though they’re gonna be affected mentally for life. That’s going to be so difficult for them to deal with…
