LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT MY EXPENSIVE BIKES, MY MANY CARS. LOOK AT ME!

But don't mention the real world out there, where climate change is real, where Brexit will destroy this country, where a reality tv star is in charge of the USA .

Don't stifle debate or differences of opinion for the sake of an easy life. It's a pub after all, isn't it? Not a pub I'd want to frequent.

I get your point, but I have seen forums where political discussions in particular result in the forum degenerating into a bitter fight.

As an example, there is a watch forum that I am on (sad I know), where anything goes, but it is sub-divided into sub-forums, with simple rules about what is allowed.
In addition to the usual watch subject subforms:
There is a "pub" subforum like this, but politics (and religion) is banned.
There is a "debating" forum where anything goes, and it is a sick and bitter place at times, with insults traded on the same old subjects.
There is also a "boy's room" forum, where pornography is allowed.

The issue is that the content of the "debating" forum spills over into the other forums at times, and it gets petty and silly, and this spoils the feel of the place.

My vote would be zero politics (or religion).

Pete

I come here to escape all the bollocks, nastiness and in some cases down right evil that exists on other forums and social media. I come here to learn, to discuss topics that I share a common interest in. I'm sure you'll find that folk who like vw vans, like older or indeed appreciate the engineering in expensive cars. Before I had a van, I spent my pocket money on road and mountain bikes. I have a motorbike or two. I go camping. I enjoy and go touring and like discovering new places. I like meeting and socializing with folk with these common interests. This forum ticks a lot of boxes. However, it doesn't need to tick the climate change, politics, brexit, anti war, vegan, CND, etc etc boxes though. All honorable areas of discussion. But those topics are already well catered for elsewhere.

The current T6 forum administrative rules and policing by the moderators, keep this place a pleasant sanctuary of knowledge friendliness and in many cases, kindness. Long may it continue, as it is.

Well said, totally agree

The rules have always been the same, no discussion of religion or politics
If you don’t like it I’m afraid that’s tough, this is a forum about VWs and campers/camping so the rules won’t be changing

End of discussion
