What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

After not really enjoying our first night on just the Vango 5cm airbed, I decided to look at spring options. In the UK, Austops can be installed with a Froli system, which is over 1k as an additional extra(!). As I live in Germany, I found another German option called CubeCamp. And for 150 EUR I got a set of 60 elements, which has 3 different firmness ratings, 3.3cm deep, whereas the Storm poptop has space for around 7. Made a world of difference!

Having a HiLo roof, I only have 1cm (max) space with the roof down, but I have wondered if iy would be possible to attach a Froli spring system to a mat that I could roll-up and remove when I wanted the roof down. From your experience, does the Froli spring system lend itself to being rolled-up or does the system rely upon being fitted to a rigid base?

It doesn't 'have' to be fitted, i screwed it down just so it wouldn't fall back when the pop top was up - The base itself would roll up i think, but with all the springs on it, I'm not sure... In theory possibly, but the roll would be pretty big!

Thank you for your feedback. Sounds like my idea might be quite impractical. :rolleyes:
 
After umming and aaahhing for way too long about bike rack options. Finally decided sinking 1k on a towbar was stupid, and put my big boy pants on and whipped off the spoiler before I changed my mind.

A little bit of adhesive still on the top which a toffee wheel is en route to help me sort, but overall pretty pleased with the condition underneath. Although… looks like the spoiler was ribbbing on one side so a nice chip I’m going to need to sort anyways…

Is your intention to then have the Vango airbed sat on top of these or something else? Our foam mattress in the pop top doesn't seem to be as comfortable as it once was so something like this could be the key!
 
Either that or a reflex foam one, i didnt really want an air one but got it with the poptop... Benefit i guess is i can let the air out and keep it up in the poptop with the springs, the foam may not allow that
 
Finally connected my USB-A / USB-C / 12V cigarette lighter socket...

Didn't use any fuse taps (what was my initial idea). Decided to add extra three circuits directly from fuse box located under passenger front seat.
That fuse box is powered via red wire which means there is permanent power (that's why I used also on / off switches).

There is a single purpose of that - fan for my dogies 🐕‍🦺. Believe it can be quite beneficial during hot wave.🥵
It has been fitted to the pillar C with 3M tape - still over there 🤣

- cigarette lighter in the boot (there is no extra switch - just secured with a fuse. Cigarette socket with no LED (for test purposed put usb plug over there)

Dedicated crimps for that box are needed. Got them from e-bay as they were much cheaper then on amazon (approx £3.5 or so vs £15)

For wiring I used 12AWG (tinned copper) cables (~3.3 mm2).

The locker (purple - please see below) needs to be opened in order to put new cable to fusebox.

Cables went at pillar "B" and then under the ceiling - exactly where original cables are located.

For insulation I used fleece tape (approx 12-15m all together) and a bit of split conduit.

Because of the cable size I had to use "yellow" crimps. It's great to have few of the flag crimps as well (socket in the boot is connected with flag crimps)

A bit boring but I changed the oil and filter this morning, it sailed through the MOT with no advisories last Thursday which was my reminder to give it an oil change, only 8K miles since the last one but that suits me, oil is cheaper than a new engine.
