What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

so tonight I can confirm that using a set of T5 service pins to allow the front end to be put into ‘service position’ you can pull the alternator out from the top.

The service pins do work, but you can only use 2 out of the 4 pins so things are not as stable as they could be, but they do work.

So it turns out the freewheel pulley has failed in the alternator, meaning it now freewheels in both directions which will explain the issues I have been seeing with the flickering lights and poor alternator output.

As I needed new tyres, I thought it would be the perfect time to clean the alloys thoroughly and under the arches as well as try out the new purple snow foam. Managed to paint the calipers and all being well, will polish the paintwork and refit the alloys in the morning.

Thank the lord that's snow foam - initially I thought it was a dodgy re-spray with muchos overspray.

Added this to my windscreen today which of course now makes me officially old, after hitting 60 just before Xmas (how the eff did that happen ?!)
Anyway, love to talk but need to collect some free prescriptions and book an eye test......

That sticker entitles you to drive on the wrong side of the road at 1/3 of the speed limit and randomly stop on the main carriageway to wave others out of side turnings.
The really bad news is that you’ll loose the ability to park without somebody armed with a reflective vest and UHF radio.

Don't forget the right to tow a badly loaded wally wagon at 40mph on the motorway with a set of those bungee'd on door mirror extensions that will never actually be used because he will now only ever stare dead ahead when driving.

I have wired in similar to these videos

Re-wired some sections today powering Charger 1 from the leisure battery and it's all working fine. I might not even fit the solar as only using as a day van I'll just run the wiring in as van is still in bits and see how goes.😊
Many thanks for this. Was just how I was thinking it could work and would suit out setup well in that way if possible. Just not overly confident in electrics myself so will likely be a job for someone else, at least there is lots of info there. Any feedback from your system and how it's working would be appreciated

Van went in for a service and MOT and I’ve been told it needs a new tyre, new front shock(s) and spring(s) and has a coolant leak…sounds like this will be expensive 😓

Just had the video from the mechanic, for the MOT it needs 1 front tyre, both front shocks and one rear coil spring - that could explain why the drive was so crap, waiting for the phone call with the bill now, I don’t suppose any of that will be covered by the all in warranty?

I posted a while back couldn’t find my vcds lead etc and then whilst I was away on holidays went to share a link on Fb Of the Gendan website.

Then I realised I had bought the version in a blue box so surely that couldn’t have been misplaced.

Ha ha it was in the wife’s Velle which I’d already checked twice I just hadn’t opened up any boxes of tools as was sure I only had the lead.

Was the video from VW, they said they were going to do one for me but they didn't send it to me (was in for a warranty repair on 'leccy sliding door)?

After our family trip to the beach for Christmas Day I noticed some horrible grinding noises from the slider and noticed at the last services someone had been rather liberal with the grease.

I had taken care to brush out the sand that had blown in but now I've used some hot soapy water and an old chunky paint brush to wash out all the sand and grease both sides and then given the pocket a good flush with the hose.

Runs along the rails a lot quieter now

Now to try some heater settings tweaks on OBD11 I've been putting of for a while

They recommended replacing just a single front tyre and not the pair?
