What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Fitted Veedub transporter seat covers. And I am 50/50 on sending them back. The rear bench fits pretty well. But the drivers side front seat doesn’t do up with the zip on the back like all the others, it just uses elastic and I cannot get it to fit tight.

Our rear seat covers are beautiful fit, really snug and taught - they just don't move at all. The front's are baggy - same company but you'd think they'd come from a different supplier. I'm considering DryRobe - and to hell with the ridicule!

To be honest I wish DryRobe did some covers that would fit my seats.

Sunday Sidebars - Out on the driveway today in temperatures suitable for penguins to fit some VeeDub gloss-black sidebars (Black Friday bargain!). They’re “Powder-Coated Stainless Steel,” so fingers crossed they won't turn orange for a while. Also stuck on some front mud guards to dodge the sand-blasting effect everyone bangs on about in the forums. Solid Sunday grafting ;)

My Boots on my Sportline wore out at 10k miles.
£185 each!
Jay, what make were the first set out of interest? I’m looking to swap mine over, currently running Good Year F1s but they are too soft for me and aren’t lasting long enough. The rears have done just over 20K and need replacing. My colleague with a T30 is running stock 17’s with the original VW supplied tyres and at almost 40K they still have plenty of life.
We carry similar weight, the only differences are mine is lowered (T32) and running 18’s optional sport lines with the F1s fitted.

I've got a load of Dryrobe stuff in my van and im not detecting rays of envy coming my way. Practical and useful, for sure, but as exciting as a nicely fitting pair of wellies.
I spent all productive and comfortable afternoon in my wellies, I'd forgotten how nicely they fitted me. You make a valuable point.

Needed to collect some train tickets from the station so took the 10l AdBlue and topped up the tank to get back to a lovely 18,000 mile range

And if you are wondering... I avoid filling up at home because we're quite close to a stream and have occasional furry friend visits in the rear garden, don't want any spills soaking into the drive and attracting them to the van and then nibbling the wiring once the find it.

Normally it's not an issue as I buy it at Costco, top up the tank in the car park and then drop the empty in thier skip. This time when I spotted a good deal it was only when I got the trolley back to the car I remembered I'd brought the EV...

What's a good price on Adblue? Haven't needed any yet. And do you use an anti crystaliser? Garage chap (who knows his stuff and I trust) sold me some.

Decided to touch up a couple of stone chips , managed to drip paint down the wing ,dashed inside to grab a cloth to wipe it off .
Once wiped clean I looked back at the chips , way too much paint on them, paint on my new trousers and paint on the worktop next to the kitchen towel! FFS 🤦‍♂️

As @CAB says aim for about £1 a litre.

Crystallisation might be an issue but I don't use any additives. Instead I just aim to buy a recognised brand (so hopefully it's decent from source) from a location where stock will turn over quickly (so it's fresh and usually when it's on offer) and where it's not stored outside in sunlight (hello village garage forecourts)

I also try and keep the tank full so there is less free space for any vapor to crystallise on to, rather than run it empty and refill. As a later T6.1 I've got the larger tank that does 18000 miles but tend to only do about 10-12000 a year. I keep meaning to top up at 5litres but I inevitably miss it and anyway the deals tend to be on the 10litres.

If I was more a summer camper and then van was laid up much more in winter I may think about it more, but I'd also then consider finding somewhere local that sold it on the pump and (carefully after checking the dash!) filling up the max advised at start of winter.

Brand shouldn't matter - AdBlue is the trademark for a very specific formula. If it says AdBlue then its the same as everyone else's (unless its counterfeit, but you avoid that by sticking to reputable retailers rather than simply buying g the cheapest.)

The big differentiator is exposure to UV. You dont want any thats been sat on a garage forecourt in the blazing su shine.

Apologies, but, whilst reading that, all I could hear in my head was the Laurel & Hardy theme tune. 🎥🎼🎵🎙️
