What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Finally got around to fitting a hardkorr 200W solar panel. This keeps the EcoFlow delta 3 plus topped up which runs the Starlink mini 24/7 (even in winter here in Oz) and mean we don’t have to go to a powered site ever again. Set up the solar panel so that there is still room for us to put our Thule pod up there as well (which would only be for spare pillows and light weight stuff given the weight limitation). Cords are still just threaded through the door seal half way down the side of the back hatch… with sufficient spare slack in the cords under the solar panel so that we can safely raise the pop top. One day will take the plunge and thread the cords through the roof via a proper solar cable entry gland. Bit holding off drilling holes a little while longer yet!

After replacing the bench seat recently with a 'captain seat', I chose to have both seats fitted with swivel bases, so the handbtake was lowered, but didnt have a lowered
handbrake cover, picked this up from THQ, nowt special but it does the business.

I took the spare wheel carrier bolt out a greased it (after reading other posts of it not coming out) Not that I am paranoid but rather make sure it is OK now rather than trying to remove it in the dark down some country road, and finding it stuck.

5 Minute job. It came out easily, but smeared some grease on it anyway.

All ready for the winter! had a diesel heater installed by Josh from Craft A Camper. He arrived at 8am and was gone by 9:30am. I went with the ProLite model under the drivers seat. Happy with the 2kw unit and the app seems useful also.

Got my van on a recovery truck to a garage today.. joy!!!

Had my cambelt & waterpump done about 6 weeks ago, along with the a new auxiliary belt..
Last week had a bird under the bonnet on starting up & went quieter after a few minutes.. booked it in today. Last night, finished work, nipping to the local store, traffic at a roundabout, moved on, went to pull off & the van died!!
So got it to the garage today, basically the aux belt had shredded on the one side & got into the timing belt pulley & chains!! Nightmare!
Garage said it was to do with the alternator possibly seizing & causing the belt to move..
so basically because of this the camshaft is bent!! So has to be renewed, new alternator & rocker cover!!!

Anyone else experienced this happen!!!

@manfrotto. I did the same last year but the recent posts have reminded me that I ought to do it again. Trouble is, I'd need to put on my diving kit to lie down on the drive and get under the van today so I'll put it off to another day!

Hallo mate have you got any more pics of this as this is what I’m looking at doing this weekend but a 20mm waste won’t fit those holes? Did you drill them to make them bigger or am I missing something? Thanks!
I went in through the sill with the waste and feed pipes, the grommet is quite big. Needed two of us, one feeding up from below, me trying to fish it out of the cill from the inside.

Received this quote for work on the van..
should a camshaft kit include bolts/washers gaskets etc?

Seems a bit excessive.. or am I wrong.
