VW All-in plan?

The warranty point is much clearer, they have updated some links since I first looked.
I did notice this today however
Services, MOT and any warranty repairs must be undertaken within the duration of the plan
Does this mean you have to have both services & both MOTs in the 24 months?

Shouldn't be a major issue for me as I'm a month ahead of my original VW warranty expiry date anyway - I'm working on the basis that any extended warranty would not kick in until the original one expires. I was always going to book a service well before the original warranty expired just in case any problems needed to be resolved and an MOT can always be done a month in advance.

So took the van in for its inspection at VW Croydon - no problem so pushed the button on the warranty. The paperwork sent afterwards shows what's covered and what's not. It clear that you can still have repair work carried out by other garages so long as you can show paperwork to demonstrate it was a proper garage. This is the list they sent. Note batteries are not included but mine was changed under the original warranty anyway.

What’s covered? This Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Warranty guarantees your vehicle should it require repairs following a sudden electrical or mechanical failure of the factory fitted parts covered by the terms and conditions of this Warranty cover.

What’s not covered? • Routine servicing (all parts replaced associated with routine servicing are excluded) • All bodywork, paintwork, body components (Including encased aerials, gas struts, sunroof assemblies, soft top roofs, and seat frames), glass (including heated), seals (including but not limited to water ingress), wardrobes, cupboards and curtain rails • Wear and perishable items as follows: – All adjustments, timing or cleaning– Batteries – Bulbs and fuses – Coolant hoses, pipes and connections – CV boot gaiters – Diesel particulate filters – Exhaust systems (although catalytic converters are covered for internal failure) – Interior and exterior trims (including fabric, curtains, upholstery and cosmetic finishers) – Non-manufacturer’s original parts or second hand parts – Tyres and wheels – Un-encased drive belts – Wiper blades and arms – Wiring and connections (including HT leads, fibre optics and aerial co-axial cables) – Wear and tear of brake components: brake discs, drums, brake pads and shoes – Wear and tear of clutch components: clutch pressure plates, bearing and disc

The things that stood out for me in the list was the DPF being excluded and Non OEM parts. The OEM is completely unstable however Sheffield are still advising my van is not eligible at all owing to the non OEM suspension.

I'm in the same boat as you (at Sheffield vw).
Still waiting to hear back from them for clarification due to modified suspension when they said it was ok to start with.
Pretty poor on the communication side tbh.

I asked what would happen if I changed the suspension, they weren’t sure but said VW can supply lower springs if needed and they would definitely be covered. If I change mine I’m going to @CRS Performance so will looking to get something in writing from the warranty team first.

Good luck with that, they can't even be ar5ed to reply to multiple phone calls and/or emails at Sheffield VW.

My take on it is the Vw commercial garages don’t make the decisions it’s the part of the business that offers the warranty that decide so I’m going to try and get something from them. I like a challenge!!!

Just had one last look at the small print, the below may be a deal breaker for some;

The Warranty does not cover any injury, failure, loss or damage caused by, arising from ionising radiation or radioactive contamination from any nuclear fuel or the nuclear waste arising from burning nuclear fuel, radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any explosive nuclear equipment or nuclear part of that equipment, war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, terrorism, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power, riot or civil commotion, pressure waves caused by aircraft and other aerial devices travelling at sonic or supersonic speeds

@Higgidav I've just had confirmation from the service dept at Sheffield vw that they can't cover my van the the all in plan due to modified suspension. You heard the same?

@j4ckal I’ve not had any further contact since post #40. I’ve pretty much given up on main dealers.

Me too, well given up with jct600 vw van centre Sheffield at least, their communication is poor at best and the people working there obviously dont know their own products or haven't been trained sufficiently.

I waited over 2 hrs to have the check done, outcome was they said it would be OK as long as I provided proof of service history, inc. brake fluid and cambelt.

Politely pointed out mine doesn't have a cambelt (even if it did it wouldn't of been due one because its only just over 3 year old???)

Provided rest of service history and booked in for brake fluid change on proviso that was all I needed, then we could set the plan up in the week. A dozen or so phone calls, multiple emails and no response.

Went and had brake fluid change (another 50 mile round trip and hour or so wait) to then be told we couldn't set plan up as he wasn't sure about the modified suspension.

Took another week and half to finally get an answer out of them. Terrible communication and you'd like to think the people setting the plan up would know the criteria before hand wouldn't you.

So after a hundred or so miles in trips to see them and 3 hours waiting in the reception area, all I've achieved is paying them 68 quid for a brake fluid change and got some swirlies on my van where they washed it (which I didn't want).

Safe to say I'll be using Autohaus Dolby for my servicing from now on (as I wanted to do anyway).

@j4ckal pretty much mirrors my own experience. Don’t know why they don’t just say they cannot cover modified vans. I also travelled an hour each way plus a 2hr wait for the inspection. Complete waste of time and I won’t be giving VW any more money.

@j4ckal @Higgidav - this also massively mirrors my experience of them. It's so frustrating, as I've desperately tried to allow them to give me good customer care (!) but I just repeatedly hit a brick wall with them. E.g. Not returning phone calls, never replying to emails, washing my van when I asked them not to, not listening to my requests for work and therefore needing to rebook... the list could go on. In fact, last week I went for my 3rd visit to them for a leaking Kombi window (for them to finally replace it under warranty). Left it with them having booked in a day suitable for their window fitter, only to receive a phone call 30 mins after I'd left to say that the window fitter had booked it incorrectly in his diary. Cynically, I suspect that this was down to JCT booking the incorrect day, based on all of the previous experience.

It makes me sad really... I've owned VWs for a while, and my experience of JCT600 Rotherham VW (non-commercial...also now closed) was absolutely excellent. The customer care was second to none, and I felt like I had an actual positive relationship with the service reception staff.

My van is about to hit 3 years old, and before this new plan hit my inbox, I had been planning to use Autohaus Dolby moving forward. (My experience of them has been totally excellent!). However, it does make me sad that JCT seem to be making zero effort to keep their customers.

One other small point... JCT600 regularly have modified vans on their forecourt. I've seen them selling Leighton Vans with Cobra suspension, LV 20" wheels (275 40 20 - so not a recognised size), other non-standard styling etc. If I had bought one of them direct from JCT and then they turn around and tell me it's not covered for warranty, I think I would hit the roof. Really not sure how they're getting away with it... Anyone any thoughts?

My guess that this is such a poor deal for the dealers that they don't want the work.

Someone in VW Marketing has come up with the idea and the dealers have gone WTF! We now can't charge £3k for a replacement injector.

as long as the stealers are shifting units, VW won't give a flying fiddler's!

As this plan wasn't available to me last autumn (when my VW warranty expired), I chose a VW 2 service plan and a 3 year Warranty Direct Plan including a free MOT for £986, which I felt was reasonable value, as other than the MOT I should have no regular outlay, and could use my local VW specialist Autobarn in Amersham Bucks for repairs and cam belt change.
