Van WIFI & Mobile Data -- How I Done It --

Yeah that's looks interesting but tbh for my use I only need a simple 4g WiFi and ethernet router.

I've just ordered that tenda along with a correct usb to DC cable, I'll temporarily mount it in my passenger seat base pocket until I get a high level cupboard built where it'll live permanently.

I'll probably go for a smarty SIM, I'm already with them for my phone and have zero issues. They're doing 50GB for £8 a month at the moment!

Oh and this is a primary reason why I want the Cerbo GX to be on a wired connection. This morning, it was completely fine and was allowing real time updates.

Now it's gotten a bit warm in the van, the WiFi is very intermittent.

The Bluetooth on the Victron devices isn't strong enough to let me connect when in the house so I've been using Victron VRM to monitor. But it's no good if it doesn't connect for several hours like it did last night.

What is the "correct usb to DC cable" to power the Tenda?

times have moved on. . . . lets check it out.

It’s a great system. I have my Starlink Mini on my roof light with a frame that has suckers.

I am paying the £8 pm for the 20gb which so far has been fine. I still use my Three MiFi as backup cos it’s an old cheap deal @£11 for 50gb. I lose signal on it regularly but on drive south down to Austria on the Starlink mini I had a 98% connectivity northbound it dropped to 78%.

I have this router fitted in the van. I log everything into that. It connects automatically to either the MiFi or the Mini, via WiFi depending what’s switched on.

Currently in France for a week and it is running out so I can just upgrade to 50gb for £30 or pay £2.50 per gb. IMG_4397.webpIMG_4398.webp

I love these cards so much, I've just bought another two.

This time 80Gb per month till April 2028.

That's 2yrs/ 25 months for £69.99 !!!

I've now cancelled all of my contract SIM cards apart from my phone and Diesel heater as I need phone signal and number for them..... Everything else has now moved over to pure data only Sims.

@Dellmassive Do you know if there's any EU roaming allowed on that deal please. I ask as it's not clear from the Amazon nor the company web page (but IIRC they do refer to 'UK data only'),

No, these are UK only.

Tested when I went to France. Literally cut off the second we popped out the tunnel.

I use a Lebara 30day SIM for euro trips.... Or Starlink.
