Upgrading T6 to T6.1 halogen tail lights (barn-doors)

Can’t find a barn door specific thread on this,

Is a T6 oem halogen tail lamp swap to T6.1 oem halogen (barn door) tail lamp a straight swap?

I believe on the Tailgate version a pin swap is required, but I’m not sure about the barn door version as they use a different style connector.

Anyone done this before can shed some light my way?

@Adams done it with his T5.1, which uses the same config as the T6 -

Just fitted the new T6.1 rear lights..

fit is a direct swap, just requires a few pin changes

Pin assignment is
1 - brake
2 - Ground
3 - Side light
4 - Fog
5 - Indicator
6 - Reverse

pin assignment is the same on both sides

part no
7LA 945 095 D Nearside
7LA 945 096 D Offside

Hi All,

I've been speaking to a vw owner on IG who has fitted T6.1 rear lights to his T6. He said its as simple as swapping some pins round.

Just wondering if there's some diagrams for the rear lights for both T6 and T6.1
