travel to work insurance for my T6 campervan with pop top

I have a 2022 T6 professionally converted to camper with pop top (new cost approx £60,000) but find I cannot insure it for travel to work use, apparently because is it now a 'leisure' camper, but it is my only vehicle so i need it to go to work. Does anyone have any insurance company or broker suggestion which I can try? I've looked at existing threads but those with business use seem to relate to non-converted vans. any suggestions gratefully received.

Business use, or just commuting?

I have SDP+Commuting from LV.

I used Brentacre. My van was bought new and converted and belonged to the company. They just wanted to know what sort of commuting I would be doing.

Who told you you couldn't insure a 'leisure vehicle' for commuting? Sounds like BS to me.
TBH honest that is exactly what Direct Line did to me. When I informed them of the conversion they canceled me with a weeks notice.

Haha, that rings true TBF - DL have always been a bit of an oddball insurer. That should very much be the exception though - most insurers won't give damn.

I’m through Adrian Flux for my converted camper (including pop top) and have commuting to work included.

Yeah - commuting is usually restricted to a single work location. Commuting to multiple locations is usually considered as Class 1 business use (unless you're carrying goods/samples, in which case it's Class 3 business use).

Just used the van travelling to the office each day this week for the first time ever. I didn’t even think about whether it was insured for that. Never mind, it was the first time I’ve commuted daily for over 15 years and I don’t intend doing it again in a rush!

I have just changed to NFU, went into their office, and they were really nice and pleasant took about an hour to explain and go through what I wanted, and everything is covered, slidpod, self-build day-van conversion.
Maybe a little more than I have paid in the last few years but this is the first time everything is listed and including the agreed value.
We use it for SD&P and going to work.

Where's the nearest NFU office Nick?

Thank you all. I will be in touch with the various companies you have all suggested and am sure I shall find someone to provide the cover I need. Many thanks all.

Comfort insurance

I was going to post the same. Our VW T6.1 camper conversion is insured through Comfort and it definitely includes travel to and from work. They seemed a decent specialist in campervan insurance which is why I went with them.
