Toddy's Crafter Build

Its a little rocket ship for as long at you have charge! Thats its main weaknesses, but as everything was designed from scratch, it also has a few qwerks.
I was doing my regular auto trader window shopping the other day and i reckon a Crafter/MAN Tge for camping trips, an i3s as a day to day runabout, and a Z4 3.0l manual for weekend summer use would be an awesome garage! I3's are dirt cheap right now.

I3 ? :(......ugly ! The other options are all good
Nah the i3 isn't ugly at all, the design is still great now! Potential future classic too.

As much as I'd love something the size of a crafter, you need a small runabout to go with it.

It’s been a while since my last update as I’ve been searching for a new role full time since Aug. It’s taken most of my daily focus, but I’ve just secured one from Jan ;)

Submitting applications, following up leads & dealing with AI recruitment systems has been stressful to be honest, but having the crafter to tinker with & use for mid week camp outs has been an absolute blessing.

The extra benifit of these mini breaks is figuring out what works & what doesn't, hence easier kitchen storage via high level cupboards was what I needed to upgrade. (Under bench seat storage is already allocated)

With Rivnut’s fitted to the chassis, I cut 9mm ply & added aluminium corner (shower rail) to the L section & carpeted to finish - The doors will also be carpet, fitted with the hinges I wants & push button locks to close. I’ll copy the same approach for the over bed storage upgrade that’s also being added in time.

But for now it’s some electrics, CCTV & 3D printing to get back to.

Finally a Saturday free, so that’s the waste tank lagged. Over bed cupboards installed, control panels resited. CCTV installed plus the AUX fuse box for the in van WiFi, reading lights and blink sync.

This is an awesome build thread. Love the van, love the work... Don't tell my van I said that

Well with the T6 now sold, it’s time to get back to the Crafter - b pillar infills I think are next on my list. Or shall I buy an fiamma awning 😜
Should you ever get involved with catering, the Fiamma would be great to keep your customers dry!!

Like confession at the local church, it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted (or upgraded) anything related to the crafter build. Having two demanding jobs is keeping me somewhat busy, but 3 nights a week away in the vans means I’m enjoying vanlife hugely.

Today I’ve finally fitted the ladder (Wheeliams) to the rear doors and enabled access to the roof -Next up its a new layout and rack so the sea kayaks have a home in time for the season.
