The second press disables dead locking. That’s what you can hear.I just discovered one long press does that. A second press sounds like it's locking (or unlocking?) something.
Nothing in the manual to explain![]()
Deadlocking means that the doors can’t be opened even from inside. So if you left kids or animals in the van, and something went wrong, they can’t get out, nor would anyone else be able to get them out. So double pressing the fob disables both the interior alarm and deadlocks.Excuse my ignorance, but why would you need/want to disable dead locking?
I guess this was already asked & answered, sorry
I've been double pressing, assuming I was double locking. Oops![]()
You can still get out of the side door when deadlocked.Deadlocking means that the doors can’t be opened even from inside. Didn’t know thatYou can still get out of the side door when deadlocked.
You have to pull on the handle twice and the alarm will go off.Didn’t know that
Not that I don’t trust you but I’m gonna have to test thisYou can still get out of the side door when deadlocked.
Can you try locking with the key in the door from the outside?Right!! So I’m sat in the van as I type this.
1, Lock the van with the driver’s door button. I can open the side door with the double pull. No interior alarm. I can step out, close the side door and it doesn’t re-lock. I can open the side door an re-enter the van. All the other doors are still locked from the outside.
2, if I now lock the van with a single press of the key fob, the van locks and deadlocks. Non of the doors will open from the inside, including the side door, no matter how many times I pull the handle. If I dance around, the alarm goes off.
3, if I lock the van with a double press of the fob, I can move around in the van, no alarm, and I can open the doors from the inside. If I exit via the side door and close the door behind me, it doesn’t lock and I can re-enter the van.
This is how my van behaves, others maybe different![]()
What you describe is exactly as I understand and expect my van to work (MY23 T6.1 converted kombi).Right!! So I’m sat in the van as I type this.

You need to click your heels together and spin round 3 times…Glad that's all cleared up
How many presses to get on a boat to Spain please? I've tried every combination I can think of, and yet I'm still sat here in the pi55ing rain in NW England![]()
OléYou need to click your heels together and spin round 3 times…
If you are heading up the M3, then Morn Hill Caravan Club site (Winchester) used to have some late arrivals/ferry spaces in the top area carpark, I assume they are still available following the modernising works, but worth ringing to check.Next question- our return ferry gets back into Portsmouth at 9pm so we've gotta find somewhere to stay overnight , any ideas ?

Failing that, you can stay overnight in Port Solent car park (restaurant side, not marina), you used to need to ring the security desk and let them know, but haven’t used it for a few years, so that may have changed.
