I'm trying to look for prices on ferry tickets Portsmouth or Plymouth over to spain for the end of the year and specifically with a pet cabin .I have no experience of this as we normally go on the train and drive through france but fancy a change , any advice much appreciated..

Brittany Ferries is where it's at. As in, that's all there is.

Pet cabins are available, but they get booked up early.

There is a paid-for discount membership scheme, but I think you would need to be a regular traveller to benefit.

Thanks CAB , the BF website is shocking to navigate 😣 and it only lists 6 months on their calendar.

Never done it ourselves, but friends have. If you mean by "end of year" December bear in mind weather - their ferry was cancelled and when they did go, realised that the Bay of Biscay was not an ideal "cruising" place, despite Brittany Ferries marketing them as cruises. So sea legs required, and indeed a reasonably deep wallet as you are a captive audience for 24 hours.

Yeah heard the horror stories about crossings being rough in the past  but always had good reports from fellow brits when I've asked .

We've made the crossing from Plymouth to Santander during the summer holidays three times and the first crossing on the way out was 'undulating' to say the least but the last two times have been fine with calm crossings both ways. Just luck of the draw I think

Yeah I think you might be right but I suppose being winter the chances of rougher seas are maybe increased ?

We did it a couple of years ago with the kids and enjoyed it. Lots to keep you busy on the ship, good food, entertainment if that's your thing. The Mrs felt a little queasy but the rest of us were ok.
Expensive though in comparison with the tunnel.

OK, well you're in time then.

Do some research in to when they release the next set of dates and be ready to jump on the site to book a pet cabin.

Just like booking Glasto :think smile bounce:

A quick browse at prices means it's gonna ba at least double the price of a tunnel ticket but that's soon offset by other considerations .
The ports are closer to our home for one and the long drive through france (fuel costs, time taken etc)
We usually allow 5-7 days to drive through france each way , thick fog most of the way there last year and snow zones to cross through at the pyrenees.

Yeah , if I can work out what boat, date and route I need in the meantime then I'm in with a chance 😬 .
