T6-T6.1 facelift with ACC Radar

Hi all I have a T6 with T6.1 face lift done by previous owner with radar and just standard cruise control, not sure which radar is used though i would presume its still the T6 one.

My problem is that on occasion while passing other vehicles on duel carriageways or motorways and it appears to be the more taller vehicles i.e. trucks or really big 4x4s but it can be the odd car then something activates the brakes to stamp on then release with a symbol of a white car with like chevrons behind it flash up and its coloured white rather than amber or red.

When it happens it scares the crap out of you, I scanned the vehicle and no error messages.

Could this be that the radar just needs adjusting manually or settings changed in some software.

Also curious to know what are the settings that are mentioned on here i.e. dataset parameters and how are they changed can i do this with a aftermarket scanner.

It will need a recalibration from a specialist as it has moved position and the parameters will be altered. This should be done everytime a sensor mount has been touched or ride hight altered.

Perhaps a simple calibration will not be enough, since the radar is installed much higher!

Possibly not but with a 6.1 board it might bring it into parameters

Can you please post your current VCDS AUTOSCAN?
As found, don't clear any faults and don't edit the scan.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I'm about to facelift my T6 Highline with ACC to 6.1.

I can see that I need to install the ACC higher up, but in not clear to me if the ACC fits behind a plastic cover on the grill, or if the grill on the 6.1 needs to be modified.

Any experience of this from anyone?

I'm just doing this myself, have spoken to Robert and TravelinLite as well. they have both confirmed that the sensor can just be relocated using the original T6 metal bracket. cut away the T6.1 sensor holder and mount the T6 sensor so it sits behind the front bumper fairly close to it.

Ill take some pictures of what we do tonight so everyone has a better idea on what to do if there attempting to do it themselves.

Im doing quite a substantial facelift using original OEM T6.1 Led headlights, so far so good and all working.

I had a few conversations and everyone I spoke to has said to relocate the ACC behind the plastic on the new grill. I still haven’t facelifted don’t funds going on new Coilovers, but it’s on the summer to do list.

Hi did you find out if you had to remove the plastic?

I can confirm you do not need to remove the T6.1 sensor plastic in the bumper, the original T6 sensor once modified to fit in the combined brackets works as it should.

Yes & No, you can keep the original wheel arch liners from a T5, but they will need to be cut/trimmed to make them fit, best option is to buy the T6.1 wheel arch liners and they will fit without any modifications if you are facelifting from a T5 to a T6.1, not so sure facelifting a T6 to a T6.1, whether the T6 wheel arch liners fit the T6.1 frontend without any modification.

T6 don't fit either without modification. You better off getting new ones for the T6.1
