Google VCDS security access modules 44 for the codes and/or ensure the bonnet is also open.

It won't work on the bench of there's and active fault code, you'll need to first clear the code.
There is error codes on this module which don't clear. i wonder if i can plug the motor into another t6.1 to clear the codes stored and then refit it with the CAN disconnected to allow the bench test method while fitted to the van

@solutionz have you seen/read Willem's Blog?
It is about PQ35 but perhaps you might find it useful.

I've compiled a list of some recent model EPS_MQB_ZFLS I've found mostly from VAG Coding Database - modules and component info and Ross-Tech Forums

It looks like the [5Q0 909 144 AA] or [3Q0 909 144 L] would do what I want however I'm not sure if they'd be physically compatible.

They are physically similar and compatible.
Their measurements are similar.
The turns of the steering wheel are the same (+/- 488º) +/- 75mm
Rack stroke the same about +/- 75mm
As for the software:
1º ECU 5Q0 909 144 L Y M are compatible with each other.
2ºECU 5Q0 909 144 R, S, T, P, AA, AB are compatible with each other.

What I don't know if L or M are compatible with R, S, T, P, AA, AB
- L, M use 1 byte for encoding
-R, S, T, P, AA, AB use 2 bytes for encoding

Wow what an amazing thread I don’t fully understand it all , but , bloody amazing in depth , as some know I’ve fitting a rs3 engine in my old 06 t5. Bought the later subframe and a t6 rack hopefully works with power earth and signal to active , as there no room to a fluid steering pump on my engine

Sure I can do that.

So you basically want to know if the EPS will assist with 12VDC to KL30a, with or without SIG15?

Should be easy enough as I have one I can put on the bench with a battery. I'm also just waiting on a harness to get a bench setup working through J533.
Should it power up with ground/ kl30a 12v and signal 15 (switched igition 12v )as I’ve tryed 2 racks carnt get them to bench power up

terminal 15 is switched/ignition live
signal 15 is something different, its a signal ??

I tried with terminal 30 and 31 only and power steering works after completing the full clockwise and full anticlockwise rotation cycle.
Without terminal 15 the steering rack goes into permanent sleep mode.
So 15 is required to keep Power Steering Unit alive.

Crazy 3 rd rack still won’t work

I assume this rack faulty then too / defo live and earth and signal 12v. It’s reads motor , but asked for basic settings tryed left to right still same is there any possible codeing I can try as there isn’t any showing

Are you planning to switch to T6.1 SUBFRAME?

Asking for basic settings but dosent work when moving steering full left full right , maybe codeing I’ve no idea tbh fed up of buying racks that won’t power up

Any link please ( issuise is as it’s a mixture of t6 and audi lot of things arnt compatible , Hernce I thought I could use it as a standalone idea
