T6.1 SOS fault.

Does anyone know if the sos function can be coded out via vcds.
The error certainly can as I was offered this as an option by
VW fitted ours cost was £120 mostly labour.
wow my local dealer said £105 for the battery plus fitting on top. But said they wanted £150 to diagnose the fault first as they would not accept the codes I had from Carista and would have to diagnose before doing any repair

Pretty sure you can turn it off with OBD11 somehow.

Also i have the privacy settings issue, but it was because i had activated component protection which VW had to remove. But if the modem is broken could be blocking the radio perhaps, the modem is another known issue in the SOS unit i think

There is a self study manual relating to the t6.1 communication system on this forum.
Looking at it, I can not see how you can switch off the SOS module without causing communication faults with other modules.

We just had a wiring loop fitted by VW not a battery and SOS all good now.

Not really when I purchased last June it came on when I left the dealership called them and they said VW would resolve. Called warranty and had approval VW looked at it and fixed next day. It says on the invoice SOS control unit needs repair kit VW5WA 998 058c and unit price £6.12 the rest labour. Didn’t claim on warranty.

I bought a battery from eBay, this item though expensive at £99 was all I could find as cheaper ones that had the battery in stock came to a similar price once delivery was factored in.
Easy fit as described further up the thread. Note that I did it with the engine running, mainly because it was freezing cold.
Light went green straight away.
I then reset the fault with my OBDEleven and the fault immediately returned. Light went red.
So I disconnected and reconnected battery to get green, and currently dying intend to try to reset the fault ever again!

Got mine fixed today thanks to my VAG professor. He split my old battery to get a good luck at it. I believe he is looking into to setting up an exchange system. Or repair & return type of situation.

Scratch that. Fault reappeared the next day 👎

This may help , I have had the fault light for the SOS too. Today got an email from VW that might be the reason……

Im not sure. If it were the reason then the folk that have had new batteries, looms, etc, wouldnt have fixed their fault...?

I have the IT skills of a Jaguar-Land Rover computer security manager, so I'll wait until either the van or the app tell me to go through the process.

I've had the fault since this Tuesday (10th Feb), and received this email today, however, where is wi-fi option in the infotainment system, how do you activate online mode??
