T6.1 SOS fault.

We’ve had 3 T6.1’s in the last 12 months and every one has had the sos fault. I think everyone with the fault should just press the sos button after starting up every time. Maybe the manufacturers might fix the fault when there system can’t cope with all the calls. Just stay silent and if they say anything say it must be faulty. 😂

Tried this. Shows my exact coordinates on screen and the operator answers asking what service. I don't see that anything is broken. Had the battery lite fault for months when I read with my OBDEleven, then this weekend an additional code of battery flat and the dash warning. On FB there seem to be a lot that have gone this weekend strangely, unless it's just my algorithm feeding me what I want to see.

no way all these batteries are failing at the same time, its got to be a software issue that vw know about. i had it in november, i deactivated online mobile services in the vw app and not had it since

The vans that are failing, are they vans in daily or those that see little use?

I suspect you're now placing less demanding on the battery, and thats why its happier...for now.

yes in the settings on the app, deactivate online mobile services
I tried a search but couldnt specifically find it. Can I ask what is the VW app, and can I find it in in the iphone app store ?

Sadly the law mandates its fitment on new vehicles built after a certain date.

I just pray that SOS telematic system warning messages don't become part of a future MOT test.

Mine's a 2021, but touch wood no issues...hope I'm not tempting fate. When not inuse I keep it on a smart maintenance charger so im hoping the SOS unit battery will be kept full of electrons as it draws from the vehicle battery.

My emergency call restricted has come up this morning 2021 6.1.
I have downloaded the WV connect app to see if I can deactivate the sos in that, but I can’t change my privacy settings I’m just getting privacy settings currently unavailable please try later 🤦‍♂️ any suggestions?

when it came on i had just completed a 2 hour drive, all i know is since i did what i did via the app i have not had the message again, my van sometimes sits for two weeks without being used, you would think if battery or main battery related it would come on then

Yep getting exactly the same here.

I have not found a way in VW connect to turn off SOS.

Still not found anywhere that has a battery in stock either
I am sure it is a safety protocol module. It is linked to the airbag, headunit, dash cluster module so will no doubt throw up a host of fault codes.

Two hour drive in isolation wont necessarily do the trick. Read up on smart alternators.

In addition, if the battery has become sufficiently discharged that its been damaged then a journey round the equator won't help.

It needs consistent and regular charging. I cant provide that with my pattern of usage, so keep a smart maintenance charger plugged in at all times when not in use.

I got this reply from VW

If, contrary to expectations, the above steps do not lead to the desired results, please provide us with the following information:

  • A screenshot of the last error message received including the associated timestamp (date and time of the error message).
  • The status of the SOS button (LED light green, red, inactive).
  • A current image of the connectivity status of your vehicle (globe active/inactive) including the associated timestamp (date and time of the image).
  • The system information of your infotainment system. This can be found under: Menu – Setup – System information.
  • A detailed problem description of your request. At which step do you receive an error message? Which steps have you successfully completed?
