T30 255/40/20 - My Experience

Just reread the thread and see you have VCDS so do you want to give it a go on yours and see if the result is the same/different ?
Yep - very happy and willing to, would you be able to give me chapter and verse what I need to do - or is the screenshot above sufficient?

Pretty straight forward, just load up vcds and go into 65 tire pressure module
Click on adaption channels and you will see this list
1710973236645.webp

The van only uses standard and fully loaded so they need to be changed, the default value is 255 and you need to change it to your desired value in bar but leaving out the decimal point
eg 36 psi = 2.5 bar so you would enter 25
38 psi would be 2.6 bar so enter 26 and so on

Not sure if the comfort setting does anything/is required so maybe try the other 4 and see if it works, if it doesnt try doing the last 2 as well, i think you need to reboot the headunit after you apply the settings so hold down the power button for 30 secs

TVM - will have a fiddle and let you know how I get on!

Hey @z1ts did you ever succeed in modifying your tyre pressure settings?
I really want to adjust ours so it’s actually useful when driving off-road with lowered tyre pressures.
I like the idea of being able to activate the individual profile as described in the initial post in this thread.
I’m keen to hear if anyone has more experience with this process since this discussion.
Cheers,
David

Yes I did 👍

I'm working away at the moment, but when I'm back I'll dig out the details & fire it on here.

Unfortunately i didnt get this to work :(

I found what i thought was the required adaption values that needed to be changed but having had a play with them all it did was add an extra unselectable entry to my tyre list

Hey Pauly,
I'm about to see if I can modify my direct TPMS settings using OBD 11. It seems to offer similar adaptations to those you describe.
I just want to make sure I know what my options are before I start editing settings.
Do I understand correctly that you were able to add a new tyre size but you can't actually select it? :-(
But you *could* change the specified pressures for one of the existing tyre sizes?
Is there a separate copy of that list of specified front and rear pressures for each existing tyre sizes?

No, i had already loaded a custom set into the headunit and added an extra profile for my 20 inch rims so i was already sorted

I attempted to use VCDS to do the setting to test it out but it wouldnt work for me (i suspect because i had already made changes) so i left it alone and someone else tried it

Ah, OK, Thanks Pauly, I misunderstood when you said it added an extra unelectable entry in your tyre list.
So I'm hoping to add custom pressures without needing the custom profile via VCP.
It looks like I might be able to do what I want using adaptations in OBDeleven, as per the attached screenshot.
I can see the same adaptations as you've shown in your VCDS screenshot but it's not apparent which tyres are those "SPECIFIED" pressures going to be applied to?
Is this what the "pressure line selection (end of assembly line) does? ??**
I haven't seen any option to enable another profile, like the "individual" profile in the OP.
Hopefully this is what @z1ts can confirm for us, as I realise you explained that you couldn't get the values to be applied when you tested it.
I know I could just change them and see what happens but it'd be nice to know what I'm doing so I change the correct options first time - in case I only get one chance.

** Edit - I've confirmed that the "line selection" and "Load Status selected" entries do change as I change the menu selection in the car's tyre menu but I don't understand how I control what tyres I'm editing if I change the pressures??

IIRC your adding an extra profile and not auditing any of the existing ones

Yes!
Thanks Pauly,
I just came back here to post this link and I saw your reply.
This guy spells it out perfectly that this is how I create the "Individual" profile, so I'm off to the garage again...
Imagine if VW just let you do this in the menu, like any other $100 TPMS system!

Feck yeah! It WORKED!
You are exactly correct Pauly - using the adaptation to enter SPECIFIED pressures creates a new "Individual" tyre option.
I have my own Individual tyre type! 🎉
I wanted a slightly lower pressure of 44psi for general use because we have 235/65 17 tyres for 4WD driving, but more critically I wanted a ~35psi option for off road driving. I learnt the hard way that this is really iimportant. We got a puncture while running at 30psi and didn't notice at first because the stupid system was already in alert.
It's a shame we only get to choose 2 sets of pressures - I've had to specify "fully loaded" is now "off road" = 30psi.
This is almost perfect! If only VW simply let us adjust the pressures without all this black magic black box BS.
