T28 Tyre Ratings

Hello All,
Looking to get some new tyres, a friend can get Pirelli's at staff discount but they are a slightly different spec.
The old tyres have a rating of 103Y and the possible new ones would be 99Y.
Would this matter?

Depends on the weight limit of your van

2.0TDI 150PS 6-speed manual T28 total 2,800 kg.
front axle. 1,600kg
Rear axle. 1,550 kg

So the minimum load rating of your tyres is 800kg. That’s 100Y.

I’m looking at new tyres for T32, are these calculations listed somewhere for all van weights?

You need 103Y minimum for a T32

There is a sticker within the door close of the drivers door with OEM tyre sizes and weight ratings.

101 look ‘just’ OK for a T30.

Thank you @Deaky now looks like dilemma for SUV 103Y in 235/55 or agilis van cross climates in 215/60 but overrated load so probably stiffer ride. Have to be Michelin as have a discount voucher for them to use up.

According to my build sheet for T28, the tyres supplied where 104/106. I'm now on 18" wheels with 104 rated tyres. I wouldn't go lower just for piece of mind.

What size are the tyres? 101 load rating is the best I can find in 235/50R18

you could consider going slightly larger with a 235/55/18
lots more range with this size

Morning all

When buying wheels and tyres that are load rated do I simply need 4 wheels that total up to or over 2800kg?

So the wheels I've seen are 750kg per wheel. Should be OK?

Likewise the tyres on 750kg wheels only needs 98 rated? Previously I've read I need 102 rated.

See attached info I found online

Thanks

Look at the sticker by the drivers door

Folks, I've just checked the vin plate on my T28 and it states my axle ratings as 1550. Thus making my minimum wheel rating 775kg and tyres 99.

Has anyone else experianced this? I always assumed T28 was 800kg for wheels and 100 for tyres. Opens up even more options for wheels and tyres :)

You are correct. I think I found more choice in my tyre size (20s) at 102 load rate, but you could get 99s

I wonder if there's many other t28s knocking about with 1550kg front and rear?

Thanks to admin for moving this thread, i did try looking last night but couldn't find the right thread to add too.
