Suspension setup sub £1K

Does anyone have any recommendations for a suspension setup that is under £1K?

Currently running a 17 plate T28 full camper conversion on some cheap and nasty suspension that was fitted by the conversion company 4 or 5 years ago.
It is approx a 70mm drop I think.

I'm looking to possibly raise it slightly as I will be looking at putting some swamper wheels and tyres on it in future, but still keeping it lowered.

I’m running STX and am very pleased with it.

I got the kit from here - currently on offer so you’ll get change from your grand.

I was on their website yesterday looking at those.

There seems to be plenty of people on the forum who are happy with them so I think I'll take a punt.

Oh that’s a good price. Simple to fit diy or best for a workshop?

I opted to fit them myself but I should have got someone with a ramp and who has their technique sorted to do it. I’ve worked on cars and motorbikes for years as a DIYer but I’m getting on abit now and don’t enjoy rolling around on the floor.

The front hubs with brake disk and caliper in place are also very heavy and no fun trying to get them to pop back into the lower ball joint  The rears are very easy compared to the front.

Having said that I still got a small amount of satisfaction from DIYing it, haven’t had any knocks or bangs and saved myself a couple of hundred quid.

But, I will not be doing it again.

Think I'll give it a go myself.
As you say, the back is pretty straight forward (Once I sort out the rounded grub screws from the existing kit that's on) the front I'll call in a favour from some mates to help.

Any tips or advice to make the job easier? (Apart from getting someone else to do it)

Did you replace any nut/bolts? What about the rubber mount at the base of the rear spring?

Cheers

My van is 2019 and has done 25k - I soaked all the bolts/nuts with penetrant before starting but nothing was difficult to undo.

I also replaced the top mounts with Meyle HD - not because they were shot, but because I didn’t want to kill myself removing the standard springs, so made up the new coilovers with new top mounts and top mount nuts.

The hardest bit at the front was getting the hub off the bottom of the leg - you have to undo the drive shaft and then lift the hub out of the bottom ball joint whilst pulling the drive shaft out and then trying to get the hub away from the strut whilst taking the weight of it and then getting it back onto the bottom ball joint again and then getting the coilover into the top of the hub whilst re-inserting the driveshaft. The second side was much easier once I’d done the first.

Rears were easy just make sure you use the standard rubber spring cup at the bottom and put the adjuster at the top. The rear rubber spring cups were misshapen but not perished or split but they are only cheap if needed.

There will always be discount houses giving stuff away . Wont get much advice on set up from them ( they dont have the expertise in house ) the back up service is poor to say the least and they rarely carry stock as well,
We carry our own warranty so we replace broken parts over night from our stock , Discounters will fob you off to the manufacturer and can take weeks to sort out issues . My last claim was 4 weeks to sort out , we will never let a client wait that length of time .

Is this the kit for the T30 or T32?

@CRS Performance what's your current price for the STX kit delivered?
Hi There we are more expensive that Demon tweak who are a discount house . They dont offer the experience or after sales service a specialist co like us do .There will always be someone giving it away but i get the calls after when things dont go well . we also do our own warranty work in house , i mention this because the last part we sent to KW for a warranty took a month i dont expect my customers to put up with this time frame , we swap the faulty parts and take the sting out of the process afterward . Our Kit is also a private label that KW make for me exclusively
Get the price from D T and let me see how close we can get

Hi Steve, I currently have red Koni shocks with standard T32 springs and the ride is still harsh in my opinion. Would this STX kit be any better?

Hi there

Its highly unlikely that STX will be more comfortable that KONI shocks alone , also STX cant do standard height its range is 40 to 65 mm lower only .

Have you kept the T 32 rear springs because they are harsh anyway because they can carry a ton ?

Also what wheels are you running and tyre pressures ??

Which shocks do you have

Specials
Special active
Special short

Once i know what you have i can make a few recommendations
