Status 1 Automotive or Van Haven

Hello everyone
I’m new here and buying my first T6.1.
Very excited except the chip shortage is playing havoc…
I’m looking for a high spec 4motion van and so far I’ve narrowed down two dealers who can get stock.
What are people’s experience of either / or Status 1 Automotive or Van Haven?
Both look to have great products and are open to custom work but I’d like to hear others’ experience good or bad, please.
Thanks in advance…

Never heard of Status 1, but Van Haven, Absolu5e, Shadow Customs, Eclipse Campers and Bognor Motors are all well proven conversion specialists in the South.

I’ve just Googled them, I’ve seen their vans and premises advertising before, I just don’t remember them trading under that name. Maybe just my fading memory, but they do have some nice looking vans for big money. At the risk of being shot down, lovely vans, ruined by their choice of pop top though.

thanks.
I’m just looking at pop tops now.
Van Haven really push the stealth carbon fibre one at £6k.
Status 1 use what pop top? why do you say not good?

If Van Haven fit the Stealth roof then you can be pretty sure it’s of good quality, VH churn out some lovely buses.

Difficult to tell exactly what roof Status are using but in many of the pictures it looks like one of the Reimo bath tub roofs, decent enough quality but really fugly imo.

I have bought a T6.1 from Status 1 just over 3 months ago. Their conversions are good quality and they are excellent to deal with. Having said that the base of my van was converted by New Wave Customs in Wales before being passed on Status 1 who did some further external work.
The Reimo pop top was fitted to my van by NWC and while maybe not the most attractive closed, I like the extra space it provides and the canvas zip back feature. I did note that other vans in their stock had two types of tops. Neither would I consider an issue and think the slim line one uses perhaps looks best when closed.

Status couldn't get a van and I've bought one elsewhere. Have to say I'm quite glad I'm now not dealing with Status 1 as they were anything but polite in getting my deposit refunded back to me as promised. It's a shame companies don't realise that how you treat customers in every situation matters whether they have bought a van or not ;)

Any further comments on Status 1 quality of campers ? I seen their website and it’s seems they ask decent money for their conversions

I have a 2017 T32 conversion from Status 1, with hind sight I wouldn't have gone for it, it's lowered and the ride is very hard, I've tried raising it but not made much difference. The stitching in the front drivers seat has stater to come away, the upper front cupboard have pulled away from their screws, not an easy job to remedy, sound proofing has started to peel off in the rear compartment. Aesthetically it looks good, but the build quality and fittings are not great.
