Stage 2 tuning for 102PS TDi

That was one of the parts suggested.
Along with an induction kit, Front mounted intercooler, uprated fuel rail and a straight through exhaust system. PHEW!
Any recommendations for a place in Norfolk that I could speak too?
P P Tuning are in Louth, Lincolnshire.... not too far from you.... give them a shout. They are Pendle Pro Agents

Friend had a Euro5 102 remapped and was definitely advised 5 speed gearbox was the weak point. I think 160bhp was the max figure advised to him. 6 speed they would take to 170+. On the 150 bhp 6 speed I know Revo and Pendle quote about 190 to 196bhp. I keep looking but haven't taken the brave pill yet. I have the 150 6 speed and fancy the mid range drivability quoted on the 196 remap

I've already had a stage 1, currently running at 159bhp.
I have been told I can do a stage 2, but need to change a few parts in order for it to be safe and effective.
Am I missing something here?
How do you find the stage 1 upgrade? I once had a
58 plate golf gt tdi which was remapped from 140 to 190, a year later the turbo went, catastrophically. The damage was so bad it was touch and go whether it was worth fixing! I always have this in the back of my mind....

To be honest, I find its great. I'm not a race around person, and it just gives a little extra that's useful with the torque, when we go camping.

I also take it easy in the van seen as I’m driving around with the kitchen sink in the back! I do however need to plan overtakes very carefully, planning ahead and always dropping down to third. I would do a stage 1 but I’m terrified of damaging the van!

I've had mine done for about 2 months, and it's been perfectly fine.
Fuel economy has increased quite a bit too.

So many threads available on what happens to tuned 102’s and still it’s being considered on a regular basis.
My van is not regularly used and gets serviced every 10 months.
I can imagine if someone does it to a daily driver and uses it to full potential all the time it would cause issues.

Don't be afraid to do it! I had my 102 5speed manual remapped by Pendle over 2 years ago, it's the best mod along with the k and n filter you can do for performance without the stress on the engine

The only way to get more air through a filter element of the same size (limited by airbox) is to reduce the filtration specification.
That means pulling more dirt through the engine providing the turbocharger and induction system can deliver the additional airflow
Abrasive dirt + engines doesn’t equal performance unless you want to pay for a race car maintenance schedule.

Have a chat with the guys at Dark side developments, very good Tube info, and specialists on VAG tuning. On the T6 102 you may need to think about a new hybrid turbo as well as the remap.

Every one has an opinion, I'm happy to trust a company like K&N with its R&D and scientific research personally

I had mine done T6 102 and it is good enough for me. At 63yrs old I'm past racing away from the lights............. or for that matter racing anything.

That made me laugh! Almost as much as I giggle to myself when I pootle up behind the boy racer who “burned me off” at the previous set of lights!

@DXX is correct. K&N are really for race applications. If you do a but of your own reseach there is plenty in the net about particle size of various filters. K&N are know for letting through large particles.

They’re not quite as performance enhancing as a baked bean can on the end of an exhaust pipe.
