Snow Chains or Winter Tyres?

I'm running 20's now but will fit 18's with winter tyres in the next month or so. I've been looking at 235 50's but can't get the right rating for my T32. It looks like I'll be going for 255 45 18's (probably Falken Eurowinter HS01 tyres)

Mounted the winter tires this weekend. Had studded Nokian on the 17 oem steel last year but the noice was terrible. This year I'm trying Cooper weathermaster ice oversized in 225/65/17 on msw rims

I like the look but so far the snow only lasted for some hours so can't judge the grip yet. Noice level is on par with the stock conti summer tires at least.

Hint on size option for people. Seems to be good choice and a little cheaper in 245-50-R18 and 104 rating so covers all axle weights
