The door on my T5 actually fell off in my hands leaving a restaurant on my T5 one night. folded up the steel on the bottom leading edge of the door as it hit the ground. I was not happy and it wasn't a cheap fix for the body work. It was 2008 with 130k miles on it though and had been used as a trade van prior to me owning it. I had to replace the top slider as it's runners had basically worn out. It was a pretty straight forward DIY job and fixed the issue with no further occurrence.
