Been driving my self half mad……trying to cure a low rumble/rattle from my sliding door …I had @Absolut5 replace rotten door cards they even thought it could be door alignment….so took the plunge and used white Lithuim grease ( WD40 spray type )..on all metal parts even sprayed the electric door shut connector ( pushed in and sprayed the sides ) and roller guides….well It worked ….( I was using Dry Silicone spray ) I’m now so happy:)

ps we also suffered from the dreading sliding window leak ( hence door card change…van even smells better ) so rather than replace the windows we sealed the gap with a waterproof flexible sealant….ok can’t use sliders…but in the last 5 years never did open them…so Will for once have a dry van ……Cheap easy fix……I was going to fit 2 new THQ sliding widows @£400 + fitting

so ……:mexican wave: happy

My driver's side slide door rattle is driving me mad too, I've lithuliim greased everywhere and still the same, it's either the window or the central locking box in the actual door I think.

Good luck with your quest….sometimes a second opinion helps…always help available at forum meets

The height adjusters on my arm rests are a nightmare also the fixed struts on my roof bed board rattle when down. I think I'm going to change them to gas struts so the will be a little tension in them when down. Hopefully this will quieten them down.

I’ve been chasing a rattle on my tintop for 3 years. Only happens in the warmer months and not all the time. I’ve had nearly all the parts attached to the dash out incl glove box, airbag (rigged a temp resistor to stop the warning light), stereo, speakers, air vents, cup holder assembly, A pillar trim, alarm sensor all to no avail.

I’ve got one last thing to try - speedo / rev counter binnacle (it has loads of fixings inside so hoping one is lose) then its full dash out inc all of the previous mentioned items.

One of the problems is that within a vehicle the sound is not always emanating from where you think it is. I read a story about someone chasing a rattle on the same tintop as mine and took the dash out. Eventually noise was traced to the interior mirror / light unit (I’ve checked for that too!!)

I had a similar one when I fitted the alpine tweeters, Tessa tape and some foam sorted mine.

I find the rattles change when it's hot or cold. I keep telling myself it's a van so just put up with it, in pretty sure mine is the factory window but reluctant to change it out just yet, they rattle like mad when open so think the pins are worn.

I’ve just pinned down my passenger side sliding door rattle. If I open the door and gently move it to and away from the van body, there seems to be some play on the top runner….and it rattles. The driver’s side slider doesn’t. Is this something I can fix myself? I’m about a week out of warranty!

UPDATE: I’m wrong! Tested it again and both sides move a little when open but only the passenger side makes a noise when driving. Everything seems identical in terms of door cards, catches etc. Only one tiny difference - the pull-up shade in the rear quarter window wasn’t pushed down fully. Yet to test it when driving, but I’d be amazed if something so small could make me want to scream because of the rattle! We’ll see.

UPDATE 2: Not the rear shade, not the arm-rest. The detective work continues.

Hi @BeccaJDB ….depending on how old your van is the white rollers will wear and my need replacing ….but ( as I did ) spray the rollers and the channel it travels on with lithium white grease …make sure it’s all clean before…
a little goes a long way
ps When the door is open there is a normal slight play but when shut if it’s still rattling it’s an indicator of wear or lack of lubricant :)

While I'm at it with the lithium grease, is there anywhere else that would like a spray? My aim is to get the squeaks before they start. The dealer said the door rollers and mechanisms looked fine, so either inside the door card or inside the seatbelt slider area. I'm not convinced as it definitely sounds like the door itself, plus there is a tiny bit of wear on the rear metal 'hoop' catch that doesn't appear on the other side.

Hi @BeccaJDB ….Your on a quest ….Dealers are a funny lot for them if it’s broke they can fix it but rattles and squeaks can stump them…Find a bumpy road then you or another gets in the back and listens……failing that why not attend a forum meet it’s easier to look at the issue
Oh …I also had the seat belt adjuster on the B pillar rattle ….but lucky for me @Absolut5 fixed it ….Good luck :)

There is a rattle on my driver's side slider that is coming from the locking mechnism box in the door, it's a sealed unit so no lithium grease, if you have a twin slider it could be that.

Hopefully just fixed my sliding door rattle
Although it wasn't the sliding door (hopefully)
Behind the top seat belt mount is a piece of metal that hooks over and drops, but had a little play in it
Will report back with pictures if it fixes it

Would love to see pictures! Mine has been bugging me for a few years (!) now!!

So behind the top picture door guide is the picture below
I just put a packer behind it to stop it rattling
Yet to test drive though
