Hi All

New to the the forum but not T5/T6s, had a fair few. But for the first time im confused lol, bought a 65 plate shuttle that says T32 on the logbook but the front struts are the normal version. Then the weight play in the engine bays says 1610kg front 1575kg rear, looking at running 20s with some B14s and struggling to work out what load rating I need per wheel ie 860kg etc and tyre load 103 minimum etc? Anyone else had this pr have some answers?

She won't be standard for long, thanks in advance people.

Cheers

Have a look at this thread; it looks like you have a T30. Post up a photo of your struts.

Cheers guys, these were my initial thoughts. So as for tyre ratings a 102 should be OK, and just half the axle weight for wheel weight per wheel i assume.

If the strut is clamped into the hub assembly using two bolts at the rear of the strut it's a T28/T30 suspension unit.
If the strut clamps on the outside of the hub assembly at the front of the strut (nearest the wheel) it's a T32 suspension assembly.

It’s not all set in stone with VW. It can get quite confusing at time. But go off the axle weights, for the tyres

We have a T30 in at present with T32 suspension - it has every factory option.

Quite a few wheel sellers are trying to get me to have 275/40/20 on an 8.5 front and 10 rear. Surely that's not right, I've asked for different size front and rears but nobody wants to do it. Tyre size is a minefield

8.5 front 10 rear, I was thinking 245/45/20 and 27/40/20 rear. Will that give me an even look on the tyres and allow me to drop it around 60mm

That should work up to 60mm drop, but your wheel offset makes a difference. What wheels are you looking at? I supply some lovely wheels and I can usually beat most online companies. I am also happy to supply with correctly sized, load rated tyres for a staggered setup. If you PM me with what you’re looking for I’ll get you a quote if you like.

Those axle weights and your front strut type are consistent with the van being built as a T30. I also have plenty of suspension options for the T30 so can quote on those if you like.

My own experience is that 275/40/20 is not great on 8.5j wheels. 245/45/20 works very well on 8.5j so go staggered as you suggest in your later post.

Would you go 265 or 275 on a 10j rear
I think either would work but the 275 is closer in overall diameter to the 245/45 you plan to put on the front. I edited the typo in my first reply I meant 245/45 not 245/40
