I’d say if you are new to a T6, it’s getting used to it. Why suggest something is failing based on no evidence of that.Hi, That sounds expensive !!!
Do you think it is down to driving styles, or a problem with the stop start system., or something else completely different. Has any body solved the issue.
Totally agree buddy, been saying this from when I purchased from new, another coverup from VW!!!I had it on mine and no vehicle should do this. none of us are stupid and are all pretty much experienced drivers. It should not do this and it is downright dangerous when it happens to you.
Not good enough VW
its not that type of stall. its the engine cuts out while moving slowly feathering the clutch to turn into a side road. is why the start / stop get mentioned i found it normally restarts doubling the clutch but not always i have not had it before in any other van i have driven seems it just the transporters that do it i have had a few other vans over the years i have experienced the cut out about 5 - 6 times in the 7 years i'v had the vanI'm surprised on two counts; one I've not seen this thread even though it was reported in 2017 and two I've not experienced it. I've always blipped the throttle when changing down to avoid the lurch forward that you get if you don't.
I don't think that means that the drivers are at fault but you can't expect an engine to put up with going from 1.5k rpm (or less, on a slow gear change) to 3.5k+ rpm without warning, unless the clutch slips, can you? I'd be concerned if it didn't lurch and put you through the windscreen, hence matching the engine revs to the likely driven revs when you let clutch out?
Edit: on reflection my TSi may not exhibit it as it has torque at 3.5k whereas the diesels will be a bit gutless up there, but still...
Strange! Would be good to establish which variant or engine. Not had a hint of this on mineits not that type of stall. its the engine cuts out while moving slowly feathering the clutch to turn into a side road. is why the start / stop get mentioned i found it normally restarts doubling the clutch but not always i have not had it before in any other van i have driven seems it just the transporters that do it i have had a few other vans over the years i have experienced the cut out about 5 - 6 times in the 7 years i'v had the van
Had the same issue low fuel pressure with over run activation on happend loads of times it's a klller change rail pressure sensor one thing turn the over run off in the dash that cured it for some reason the engine dies on over run going down hill with it switched on never done it since turning that offI've started this thread because it seems to be a different issue to one already posted, where the engine dies at low speed.
Just had the biggest scare of my life- going down a steep'ish hill, with a 90 degree bend at the bottom. Doing about 35mph in 4th gear. I started to change down to 3rd, and the engine died, with the loss of the power steering. Had it all on to navigate the bend and ended up on the grass verge.
I released the clutch in 3rd as it was slowing and it was dead. Once stationary i turned the ignition of, back on and it restarted normally, no warning lights, and didnt do it again on the way home.
It was pretty scary tbh. If the wife had been driving, it would have ended up in a ditch, without doubt. Will contact the dealer on Mon, but i am dreading the "no fault found" answer after a day wasted.
What gear were you in ?Just bumping this thread, I’ve got a 21 t6.1 and it’s stalled going round a roundabout at slow speed, the S/S was off. I bought the van two months ago and this has happened twice before, now I thought it was me and I’d stalled it by nit driving right, but there’s no jump in the stall it just seems to die! All turning right at slow speed, my wife said the A s/s flashed on the dash I didn’t see as I was panicking too much as I was in the middle of a roundabout. I had to take out of gear and restart the engine. I’m taking it in for a diagnostic on Wednesday but looking at this it seems they probably won’t find much. I did wonder if my battery needed replacing as sometimes when I leave a few days it does struggle to start I wondered if this might be part of it but that’s why I’ve been turning the S/S off to help.
I’m sure I was in 2nd going slow it was a mini roundabout i can’t definetly be sure I was shitting myself at the time it was at the airport with loads of traffic,What gear were you in ?
If it was in 3rd, it hates slow speed manoeuvres. I've done it many a time.
Keep the engine revs higher by blipping the throttle in 3rd, or drop into 2nd
