My safari window has been on my van for a year and no problems whatsoever, I would definitely buy again.
Exactly. Multiple times refitting handles puts me off, not multiple windows. From what I read the catch fell off and has been re-glued, quite a few cases apparently. I don’t think many are replacing the whole window.
Think there’s a thumb screw bolt you slacken off to allow it to freely moveThe gas struts, are they supposed to push or assist the window to open? Ours just feels like it's notchy and resistant. Feels awful to be honest.
Also anyone struggling with caulking guns and the adhesive, apparently caulking guns come in different thrust ratios. The one you want is a 26-1. I found this out after nearly killing my forearms. I'd recommend the Tajima 26 super. Not cheap....
There is but even so one of mine is very tough to open and the other is smooth. I think the struts can be adjusted with the nuts top and bottom, I haven’t tried it yetThink there’s a thumb screw bolt you slacken off to allow it to freely move
Both of ours are quite stiff. Would be good to know how adjusting them goes! There is but even so one of mine is very tough to open and the other is smooth. I think the struts can be adjusted with the nuts top and bottom, I haven’t tried it yet
No need for u channel if it has factory windowsI`m about to buy a pair of these windows. I will be ordering the Window fitting kit (double) but do I also need to order the interior U Channel at the same time ? Currently it has the VW Kombi windows fitted. Also does anyone know a local fitter to Chesterfield/Derby they have used.
Folks, any help on a decision…. I’m leaning towards window replacement on the Kombi, your thought's would be appreciated.Neither. It was a plain window previously that was bonded too close to the van.
I did the back windows myself last year after watching almost every window fitting video on YouTube!

Get the current tailgate window professionally tinted to match the new sides, don't worry about sourcing an aftermarket replacement if it's not broken.Folks, any help on a decision…. I’m leaning towards window replacement on the Kombi, your thought's would be appreciated.
Due to leaking on passenger side slider and to enhance the look of the van.
Having read this thread I’m now looking to buy Camper Glass (privacy) a solid window on passenger sliding door. And a safari behind the driver (I like the idea of leaving slightly open of a night)
The dilemma is the rear clear window that has a wiper and heated glass. The tailgate replacement in privacy glass would not feature either. Should this be a deal breaker or do you think it’s an acceptable compromise.
Thanks in advance![]()
Very valid suggestion, that would probably also save me money and be much less intrusive work on the van. I’ll follow that up. Thank youGet the current tailgate window professionally tinted to match the new sides, don't worry about sourcing an aftermarket replacement if it's not broken.
Our safari window is a perfect tint match to the other fixed windows. We did toy with the idea of fitting one on the sliding door but in reality we always have the door open so an open window would be a waste.
Hi, also looking for a local fitter around Chesterfield to fit a safari window, and remove my factory kombi ones. Did you find anyone local?I`m about to buy a pair of these windows.
