Roof antenna leak on T6.1

Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar. Came out to the van today to find a puddle around the gear stick and water over the climate controls. Looks like the roof antenna has a fair bit of play in it and the seal isn’t sitting flush which has caused water to come in through the interior lighting area. The van is used daily and yesterday it was bone dry, although I did notice the auto wipers were a bit erratic. VW assist arranged an AA guy to come out and he’s organised for it to go in today. I expect it’ll probably be with them for a few weeks and I’ll post the outcome for anyone that’s interested.

Good luck, hopefully a simple fix

Hopeless design / quality control, I’d be boiling over. Best of luck.

I’m not delighted to be honest, concerned about the electronics in that area that could end up damaged. The dealership have been helpful so far though.

For those interested I collected the van today after a very quick turnaround. I’ve been told that the antenna has been removed, refitted and water tested which has of course been covered by warranty and that nothing else has been damaged by the water ingress. The headliner obviously hasn’t been removed as there is clearly some (what I hope is) residual water at the top of the A pillar which dripped out on the way home. It’s due to rain pretty much all weekend so I guess I’ll know soon enough it it’s actually sorted.

Following the initial repair the van continued to leak and went back in to the dealership about two weeks later. On this occasion the roof antenna was replaced (warranty) and water tested. I haven’t used it since due to being on holiday but this morning I found another puddle inside so it’s going back in to the dealership next week.

Had same issue , alarm went off in middle of the night, water was running In like a waterfall, was the windscreen ,

ps we fit roof aerials and they do not leak if done correctly

I’m beginning to think the windscreen might be the issue. Fingers crossed they get to the bottom of it.
