Reversing camera to aftermarket headunit

No success so I had to resort to going to a specialist. The Quadlock connector and cables were butchered on mine by PO. Also there appeared to be an issue with power to camera, maybe a broken wire?. So easiest solution was to run a new cable direct from camera to the camera input / yellow RCA jack on the back of my unit. Now all is working.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Sounds like the best solution for you for sure!

Since this is all factory, it was working yesterday and this is a fully converted van I definitely don't want to go down this route myself. Hmmmm, not sure what to do at this point. I'm going to tidy up the wiring and start putting things back together and hopefully some inspiration hits. Plug and play my ass, when is it ever that simple.

Update: for anyone else having the same issue

I got everything working yesterday. I had a thought to check the phono out directly into the stereo without going into the Infodapter and it worked immediately without graphics/sensor information.

So, it turned out to be a setting in the Connects2 Infodapter. You need to set up the CTUVW03 by holding the speech button on the SWC, then tell the system it has a camera, then set the priority to camera (over sensors), done.

I've been told that you can't really do the above if you don't have steering wheel controls though and it's best to get another system FYI.

Hopefully that helps others.

Hi, I’ve tried to follow this and other threads as regards installing the OEM reversing camera into a T6.1.

I have put in the white and black wires into the blue box (pins 6 and 12).

There is the third wire (red - 12v constant) too and I can’t tell precisely where this goes.

It looks like it should also go into the back of the head unit/radio from the attachment provided.I note someone got instructions to say "Red to +12v constant, Fuse 18(7.5A) on fuse holder C-SC18- in centre of dash panel."

Any really clear steer where exactly this red wire connects (eg which pin on head unit) would be really appreciated as I’m a novice.

Thanks

It doesn’t connect to the head unit. It connects the the fuse box.

That’s a terminal for a mini fuse. If you don’t want to get the fuse box out you could cut that terminal off and use a piggyback fuse tap.

Hi mate, decided to go for the piggy back fuse tap. I’m not sure which one to piggy back it into. The above says fuse 18 (7.5amp) but F18 on my t6.1 seems to have a large 30amp fuse in it.

Does it matter where it piggy backs as long as it’s 7.5amp?

The piggyback will have it's own fuse, doesn't matter which fuse you piggy back from. From memory the middle row is ignition live

Use any fuse in this row.

Thanks for the help on this (especially from Deaky). The camera now works. Unfortunately the cable is not long enough to get through my camper conversion.

I think I’ll try and extend the cable. It looks a mini coaxial (pic attached). If anyone has experience of the appropriate connectors and cable needed for that, I’d be really grateful as always.

Mark
