Retro fit OEM reverse camera install query

Around 18 months ago I had a genuine vw reverse camera installed on my T6. I have just removed the unit to send away for a touch Screen repair and found the following installed on my head unit.
A hole has been drilled into the back of my unit and a hdmi lead passes through to a circuit board (see pictures). I believe this hdmi input is a retro for the camera. Is a normal/correct way to install?
When the van went in it had a shark fin DAB antenna fitted, reverse camera and door speaker upgrade. I has a few issues when I collected the van which included the auto lights and wipers not working And the cables within the doors not correctly fitted and were catching when the windows were operated.
Then 6 months later when I went to use the CD player they hadnt installed the CD unit correctly so the cd got wedged between the cd module and the unit top plate. At first I wondered why they had accessed the unit internally and now I know why seeing this hdmi install.
So as my confidence is low on the quality of work by the install company i am now concerned regarding the hdmi input as this is supposed to be a genuine vw reverse kit that was used and requested

what radio is that?

doesnt look OEM to me.

it looks like a hdmi decoder board stuck inside a 3rd party radio? - maybe its part of the radio?

this is my retro fit reverse camera . . . ( wired direct to the radio unit on a coax - not a hdmi cable )

maybe our trade members:

@Dav-Tec or @Absolut5

may have an idea on what you have fitted there?

obviously a reverse cam of some kind - and a hdmi interphase?

Very odd, never seen anything like it, only the base headunit you need to add a separate board for reverse cam, but your headunit is compatible for oe or even aftermarket reverse cameras, with no need for extra parts being fitted .. just coding is required

@Ianidor
Hi Ian we messaged the other day about my repair (im the guy that had email problems). Just tagged you in this thread but will call you Monday. It’s all packaged up now. Wayne

I believe it's a Chinese kit I have seen one once before online somewhere but never used one

Moving lines . . . .

That's fancy.

My cam has static lines.... Moving line would be a nice addition.

Camera with moving guidelines was never an option on T6 so the OEM term is a bit subjective but i would have assumed they were fitting a genuine VAG group camera !

Moving lines are possible if you use kit from other vehicles in the vag range, the video signal either goes through a secondary interface that reads the steering angle sensor or a highline camera is used which is a control module in its own right and has a canbus pair going to it allowing it to read the steering angle

Name and shame.

I wanted an OEM kit and and OEM standard installation. I’ve just been to my local indie VW Transporter specialist and in his opinion it’s not an OEM kit and definitely not an OEM quality install. Now I’ve had time to read up and go through the OEM install instructions i can see what is supposed to be done. As os 1245 Monday the installer as of yet hasn’t replied to my two emails!
