Re-bonding Side Windows

Hi All,
Finally felt brave enough to cut holes into the side of my new van over the weekend. Fitted new side windows and everything was a lot easier (although still very nerve wracking) than I thought.

However, I've discovered a small leak in the first window I did. I know the technique for cutting it off would be to cheese wire to off but I was wondering how I get the old bond off the van and the window so that I can refit it? Whats the best thing to use to get a good clean surface for re-bonding?

Cheers

Mask off area and Flapper wheel (on a drill) on the old adhesive?

Not done it myself, just an idea.

I use sicaflex on the cnc machines that I work on,if I need to remove excess mastic I found that break cleaner is the best for this.
You could always ask a window fitting company.

I would avoid taking the window back out if possible. Could you use a syringe and some silicon or a cotton bud and silicon perhaps?

All your trying to do now is plug a leak, the initial bond for the window strength is already done.

I did think about this. Then I got to thinking whether outside or inside the van would better. Outside, I run the risk of hashing it and making a mess on the paintwork. Inside, I'd have to remove the trim around the window and would it then go back on?

Cheers, good to know. Think I'm going to call the place where I bought the windows today for some advice.
