The Replacement Window Debarkle - The Stealership Strikes Again!

Like so many others, my T6.1 suffered from the Curse of leaky sliding side windows. The leak started with the van being less than 18 months old (which in itself I thought was pretty poor) The van came from Factory with clear glass (not privacy) and I had it Tinted afterwards.

Assured by my location VW Franchise that it could be swapped out under warranty, I confidently booked it in for replacement.
I specifically mentioned that they'd have to supply a clear glass window (as per the vehicle build sheet) even though the rest of the vehicle appears to be Privacy Glass.
"No problemo" they said.

But it was... All problemo

The big day came and I dropped it off first thing in the morning... I patiently waited all day for the phone to ring, when finally at about 4 pm I received the call.

I was told "the engineer has advised me that he can't replace the window because you have after market blinds in your van"

Of course she was talking about the Vanshades - which I had previously specifically asked if they needed to be removed. The receptionist gleefully told me that I had to come and collect the van, remove it from their premises and then rebook another day after the vanshades were satisfactorily removed.

Needless to say I wasn't thrilled but I also wasn't entirely shocked (which I think says a lot) I held my tongue and collected the van.
Booked it in again... (another 2 weeks wait) and thought "let's try again"

The big day came - Round 2

I'd removed the Vanshades as per request. I dropped the van off, double checked that everything was satisfactory and asked them to confirm that it was a Clear Glass Slider that was going into the vehicle.

I was warmy reassured....

Later that day I was advised that it was ready to collect... So I merrily make my way down to the 'Experts' to collect my van with window perfectly swapped out...

Imagine my face when I saw this...

I’m just amazed they didn’t rip your sliding door off in the process. Whenever mine goes to a main dealer, despite having the correct tools, instruction manuals, training… they break something.
Next time I’m taking it to a safari park as I’ll be in safer hands.

Me too. Broke the panel below glove box accessing pollen filter. Thought a sticky pad would hold it up and I wouldn’t notice … jokers
