RCD330 not working with reverse camera

Hi guys,

I installed RCD330 (6RD035187B) to my van. I had to use MQB to PQ adapter to connect it and everything worked great. I then tried installing a reversa camera and can't seem to get it it work. I wired everything according to the diagram, including delay box and taking power from reverse light at one end and from the cig lighter fuse at the other end). I checked the set up many times now. I get "The rear view camera system is currently not available". But sometimes, I just get a black screen.

I bought a separate TFT monitor to investigate this, and everything works if I unplug AV cable from the headunit and plug it to the standalone monitor.

I'm now a bit lost as to where the issue is. Is it really with the headunit and can I check this without getting my hands on a new one? It does seem like the headunit is activated, because when I put the van in reverse, I do get a message about the camera. The headunit also came with a separate AV adaptor, so maybe the issue is there?

If anyone has any ideas or did a similar install, then let me know what you think could the the problem here.

You don't have to buy, maybe you can find someone local who could do fault read for you.

I don't think this tells me much.

I also tested the adapter from AV to blue socket using the separate monitor and that worked.

Could these CAN errors be related? I tried googling and it looks like they come from me fitting the aftermarket RCD330 unit. But I'm not sure if it is something to worry about as everything works perfectly except the camera.

I managed to clear all the errors but the one from camera by changing coding to use Radio instead of 5F after the head unit swap.

So at the moment I have no ideas but maybe try buying another camera and just seeing if it works. But since I know that the camera works with a separate monitor and the seller told me it should be compatible, this might be a waste.

What happens when you in Radio coding untick byte 03 bit 6 - the fault goes away? Anything on screen when in reverse?

Sorry what exactly do you mean it is not supported? Are you talking about the camera or the headunit? Can you elaborate a bit?

When I untick byte 03 bit 6 the fault does not go away. I even tried clearing the error and it would still come up later. However, the reversa camera screen did stop showing when I put the van in treverse.

I tried activating "6C" but I could not connect to it via VCDS. It was unreachable and it didn't show any meaningful error. Also it didn't help with the issue.

I don't understand where this is coming from. RCD330 works with my T6 in every way except the reverse camera. I had to buy MQB to PQ adaptor, though. I also see other people on the forums using this combination.

Maybe this is part of the issue. But the camera plugs straight into the head unit, so I was thinking that it shouldn't matter.

If you have some details about this feel free to share, but I don't think simply saying "not supported" is true.

Yes it works on its own, but you cant add it to the can gateway as it is not available.
