Hi all,

So I have this Pioneer unit and a reverse camera. Before I actually install the camera to the back of the vehicle I just want to know that it works with my display and actually see it working. Then I'll install it etc.

I've watched some videos on people trying to connect their camera's but they are all different makes and models and I can't find anything for my situation. Some people splice into the reverse cable behind the rear lights etc but for now I just want to connect it up to see that it works before I go cutting cables etc.

Camera has
RCA (yellow connector) + yellow wire coming from it
Red and black wires

Pioneer unit see pictures for all cables. I have got a 10pin RCA connector plugged in so that the RCA of the camera can connect to it

Couple of things.

With the right fitting kit you shouldn't really need to cut cables.

Also that terminal block isnt the best idea the screws can work loose and cause all manner of issues. Either use a wage block, crimps or solder.

Don't take a reverse wire off the rear the van uses PWM to monitor the bulbs and causes havoc with cameras again with the correct fitting kit it should give you a dedicated stable reverse output you connect to the reverse trigger wire on the headunit

Hi,

What do you mean by the correct fitting kit? Is there a piece I can buy from Amazon where the wires can connect into it instead of splicing into other wires or is that not what you mean?

I’ve got a soldering iron etc so I’m fine doing that but I just want to know which wire goes to which before soldering/cutting anything lol “measure twice, cut once” and all that…

@Dav-Tec spot on as usual on audio matters. The correct fitting kit/CAN interface means you don't need to cut, solder or crimp anything. The correct one depends on the year of the van, whether you have controls on your steering wheel and whether your original head unit displayed parking sensors etc.

Let us know those details and we'll be able to help advise the correct one. It's the correct way to get everything working as it should.

Thanks, appreciate the help. It’s actually a T5 08.
Currently no controls on the steering wheel although planning on getting the Mk7 one with buttons, more so for the looks but it does have buttons as well. This unit does not display the parking sensors that are on the van. I bought it with this unit already installed so I’m not sure if it’s possible to have the parking sensors come on on it and they just weren’t wired in or it does not have the capability to actually show the sensors on screen. Cheers

I've PM'd you with some more details.
